Five players each put in 700 preflop and saw a flop of ![]()

. Action checked to David Gutfreund in the cutoff, and he bet 1,625. Three of his opponents called, including Phil Mader in the blind, and the
appeared on the turn.
Mader led out for 3,600, only Gutfreund called, and the
completed the board on the river. Mader moved all in for his last 5,300, and Gutfreund tanked for a solid two minutes before calling with the ![]()
. Unfortunately for him, his two pair was no good as Mader had turned trips with the ![]()
.
In the very next hand, the under-the-gun player opened for 700 and Gutfreund called from the hijack. When the flop came down ![]()
![]()

Jim Morrison, who has been active this level, raised to 900 under the gun and current MSPT Player of the Year leader Mark Hodge called from the button. The blinds both folded, and the flop came down ![]()
![]()
.
Action went check-check, as it did on the
turn, and then Morrison flung out a red T5,000 chip on the
river. Hodge snap-folded.
"No action," Morrison lamented before showing the ![]()
for quads. "I was hoping you had a flush."

We missed the action unfold, but we do know fireworks flew between three players on a ![]()
![]()
flop. A short stacked player was all in holding the ![]()
, while Munjal had shipped with ![]()
. Morrison, who had both covered, put them at risk holding two pair with the ![]()
.
The
turn was of no consequence, but the
river was. The short stack went runner-runner to counterfeit Morrison and triple up. However, Morrison still profited off the side pot and the elimination of Munjal.

Mike Hassab opened for 750 from early position and Jim Morrison — yes, that's his real name — called from middle position. Sean Munjal came along from the hijack, and Gary Germann called from the button to make it four-way action to the ![]()
![]()
flop.
Three checks saw Munjal bet 2,400, only Morrison called, and the
peeled off on the turn. Morrison checked and then snap-folded when Munjal moved all in for 13,175.
After the hand, Jim Morrison told us the story about him and his best friend in high school, who was named James Bond.
"I graduated high school in 1969, so you can imagine, we were pretty popular with the girl," said Morrison.

Reza Yazdi, who won this very event one year ago, opened for 800 from middle position and Chuck Tipton three-bet to 2,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Yazdi, who called to see a ![]()
![]()
flop. Yazdi proceeded to check-call a bet of 4,000, and then checked the
turn. Tipton bet 8,000, Yazdi moved all in, and Tipton called off for just a bit less.

We came across a big pot on Table 12. We're not sure how the action went down, but we do know that John Vitt got his last 16,000 or so all in on the turn with the board reading ![]()
![]()
![]()
. Both Thomas Sharp and the player on the button looked him up, and then the two active players checked the
river.
Sharp tabled the ![]()
for two pair, which was behind the button's ![]()

"I've got a boat," a cheerful Vitt declared and rolled over the ![]()
for the triple up.

Both players checked, and then Munjal checked the
