Hodge Induces a Bluff

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Mark Hodge defended his big blind from a 4,500 cutoff raise from Toni Fiorenza. Hodge check-called 6,000 on the flop, and both checked when the turn made the board {4-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. On the {q-Diamonds} river, Hodge checked and Fiorenza bet 12,000. Hodge thought briefly and called, and his opponent pushed her cards forward. Hodge asked to see them, and she showed {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for a missed straight draw, while Hodge had {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

Players are on break for 15 minutes.

Zarlenga Jams the River

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Jason Zarlenga
Jason Zarlenga

Jason Zarlenga struck back against the opponent on his right. On a {9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} board in a blind battle, the player check-called 18,000. The {4-Diamonds} blanked the river, and Zarlenga waited a bit before asking if it was on him.

Informed it wasn't, he turned to his opponent, who said he was checking.

"Are you going all in?" he asked after a moment.

"Calm down," Zarlenga admonished. "All in," he said moments later.

The player tanked for awhile and muttered to himself as he thought things over.

"Sorry, I need a minute," he said.

Zarlenga sucked in a deep breath and told the player to take his time. After a few minutes, the player folded, showing a {q-}. Zarlenga mucked, claiming he had {k-Spades}{q-Spades}.

Zarlenga Gets Away

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Jason Zarlenga was in middle position, and he tanked for a bit and called a big bet of 12,000 on a {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{a-Spades} board from the player on his right. On the {8-Diamonds} river, the player fired smaller, 10,000. Zarlenga quickly let his hand go though, and it looked to be a good call as his opponent mucked the {a-Clubs} face-up.

"Can't Complain About That"

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On a flop of {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, Austin McCullers check-shoved all in over a wager of what looked like 10,000 from an opponent in middle position. The player called off immediately for about double the bet.

"Do you have ace-king?" McCullers asked with surprise.

It was only {q-}{j-} for a gutshot though, far behind McCullers' {a-}{q-}. No ten appeared as the {k-Diamonds}{3-Spades} finished the board, and McCullers collected the pot as the player left.

"Can't complain about that," McCullers said.
