Perez Doubles Through Syverud

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Ryan Perez
Ryan Perez

Joe Ford limped under the gun, and Ryan Perez shoved for 18,300. Rick Syverud called on his left and everyone else folded.

Syverud: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Perez: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

"I'm the worst," Matt Alexander said, indicating he folded the best hand.

The dealer spread a flop of {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, and the {7-Diamonds} turn gave Perez seemingly infinite outs with overs and a combo draw. The {k-Spades} river kept him alive.

Ormson Runs into Bullets

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Larry Ormson
Larry Ormson

Larry Ormson picked up {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} in a blind battle but unfortunately for him the small blind had {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. Luckily for Ormson, the small blind only had 11,400 so that's what Ormson shipped after the {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} run out.

Ford Runs Full

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

We found Joe Ford putting in 40,100 from the hijack on a completed board of {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. His opponent had bet 11,100 in the big blind, and he announced he was all in.

"How much more is it?" Ford asked. "I don't think I can lay this down."

It looked to be about 12,000 more, and Ford dropped in a stack of chips.

"You have the boat?" the big blind asked, hesitating.

Ford confirmed he did and showed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The big blind showed {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for a beaten flush and hit the exits.

Perez Takes From Alexander

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Matt Alexander opened in the hijack and Ryan Perez three-bet to 8,500 in the small blind. Alexander called, and the two saw {3-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop. Perez checked and called 8,000. The turn was the {a-Clubs}, which Alexander checked back. Perez bet 13,000 on the {5-Clubs} river and Alexander quickly called.

Perez showed {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} for top set on the flop.

Syverud Busts Ford in Massive Pot

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Joe Ford, pictured at MSPT Canterbury.

Matt Alexander made it 3,500 under the gun and Joe Ford three-bet to 8,500 in middle position. Rick Syverud thought a bit and cold-called in the cutoff, and Alexander wanted to see the flop as well. It came {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and action checked to Syverud. He bet 22,000. Alexander mucked but Ford called. The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Syverud said he was all in after Ford checked.

"I thought you might have ace-queen when you tanked," Ford remarked.

Ford thought for a good two or three minutes and then verbalized a call.

"You called it," Syverud said, flipping {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}.

A disappointed Ford showed {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}. He needed a king on the river but it was a {7-Clubs}. Ford had about 120,000, which Syverud covered.
