The Demise of Dawson

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Charlie Dawson
Charlie Dawson

There will be a new champion of Mid-States Poker Tour Tropicana Evansville after Charlie Dawson busted his last bullet.

We found Dawson considering a 6,000 bet from David Dang on a board of {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Dawson said he was all in, and Dang snapped for about 17,000.

"You have an ace?" Dawson said.

Dang said he did not and showed {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a set.

"Oh s***, set over set," Dawson said, turning over {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}. "That's a hell of a way to go out. Nice hand."

The river was a {6-Diamonds} and Dawson made his exit.

Huge Double for Hodge

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

We didn't see the action, but Mark Hodge just coolered Steve Anderson with {a-}{a-} against {a-}{q-} on a flop that was ace-queen high. Hodge doubled through to the tune of more than 38,000.

Charlie Dawson, meanwhile, busted out at another table and is on his final bullet.

Hodge Picks Off Hahn

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Mark Hodge checked to Michael Hahn on a flop of {3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs}, and the latter bet 2,800. Hodge called, and both checked the {5-Diamonds}. Hodge checked the {4-Clubs}, and Hahn bet about 6,700. Hodge flicked in calling chips, and Hahn snap-mucked his cards. Hodge followed suit.

"Good try, Mike," someone said.

Schroeder Hits a Sneaky Out

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Jonathan Dimatteo opened to 1,100 in early position, and Derek Schroeder defended his blind. Schroeder check-raised to 2,900 after Dimatteo bet the {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, and Dimatteo called. Schroeder continued firing with 4,200 on the {9-Diamonds}, and Dimatteo again called. Schroeder bet 6,600 on the {4-Spades} river, and Dimatteo called again after about 30 seconds.

Schroeder showed {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, having missed his flush but hit his gutshot on the flop.

Hodge Doubles

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

On a {2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop, a player checked from the blinds and a middle-position player bet 3,000. Mark Hodge called, and the player in the blinds tanked awhile and folded. The turn was the {5-Hearts}, and the first player shoved. Hodge snap-called with a stack of 9,875 and a set of fours. His opponent was drawing dead with {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}.
