Day 1a Started
It is time for the MSPT Meskwaki Main Event! Action gets rolling today here in Iowa with at 3 p.m. local time with Day 1a action.
The buy-in for this event is $1,100, which gets every entry a starting stack of 15,000. Each entry has the option of a $10 add-on for an additional 5,000 chips and one would assume that most players will elect to take that opportunity to boost their starting stack to 20,000.
Levels are 40 minutes in length, a 10-minute break will be held every three levels. Play will end when 15 levels are completed or the field is cut to 12% remaining, whichever comes first. Day 1b will then mirror the Day 1a cut-off.
The survivors of the day will advance to Day 2, which is on Sunday, November 3 at 11 a.m. There they will combine with the players who survive Day 1b to contest for the title. The final table will not only be live reported by PokerNews but also live-streamed worldwide on a 15-minute delay.
Back in March, the first MSPT Meskwaki of Season 10 drew 409 entries and saw Steve Federspiel walk away with an $86,949 first-place prize. Then, in July, Josh Meyer bested a 401-entry field to win the 2019 MSPT Iowa State Poker Championship. In the same event last year, Taylor Howard topped a 423-entry field to win the tournament for $89,939.

Last weekend, Minnesota's Mike Lovelace hosted his wildly popular Celebrity Bounty Annual Ultimate Home Game Tournament.
The game takes place at Lovelace's house and dozens of players from around Minnesota and the surrounding states make the trip to compete. For those who make it deep enough, they're awarded seats into MSPT tournaments.
Jason Spaeth was one of those lucky players and has opted to jump into Day 1a of the MSPT Meskwaki. Spaeth is the husband of MSPT regular Jay Philips, who is known for her proclivity for the color purple.
Spaeth had a pair of MSPT cashes totaling $4,818 from back in Season 6 and is looking to notch his first tour cash in more than four years. Only time will tell if he can do it.
