MSPT Ho-Chunk Champ First to Fall

Josh Reichard in Day 1 action.
Josh Reichard in Day 1 action.

MSPT Ho-Chunk champ Josh Reichard opened for 11,000 from the lojack and Johnathon Thalheimer called from the cutoff. Adam Asbury then three-bet to 28,000 from the button, both blinds folded, and Reichard opted to four-bet jam for around 150,000 total.

Thalheimer got out of the way before Asbury made the call.

Adam Asbury: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Josh Reichard: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

It was a bad spot for Reichard and got even worse when the flop fell {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds} to give Asbury top set. Reichard needed to catch running kings to stay alive but the {5-Diamonds} took away any shot of that happening. The meaningless {5-Clubs} was run out on the river and Reichard became the first player to fall on Day 2.

Four-Flushed Queens vs. Queens

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Alexander Ahmed and Keven Stammen
Alexander Ahmed and Keven Stammen

In a sick hand on the bubble, WPT champ Keven Stammen was all in for 95,500 and at risk against Alexander Ahmed.

Alexander Ahmed: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Keven Stammen: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Both players had the ladies and it seemed things were destined for a chop. Lady luck had other plans for Stammen though as the board ran out {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs} to give him the runner-runner club flush and the double.

Brandon Sinawi Bubbles 2019 MSPT Michigan State Poker Championship

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Brandon Sinawi
Brandon Sinawi

Hyung Cho moved all in for 110,000 under the gun and Brandon Sinawi called off for 89,000 from the cutoff. The button and blinds all folded and the hands were turned up.

Hyung Cho: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Brandon Sinawi: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Sinawi was primed for a double and maintained the lead on both the {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop and {4-Diamonds} turn.

All he had to do was dodge a queen on the river to double on the bubble, but that proved easier said than done as the {q-Spades} spiked to send Sinawi out the door emptyhanded in 172nd place.

Banghart Done and Dusted

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Jeff Banghart
Jeff Banghart

Jeff Banghart moved all in for right around 225,000 from the cutoff and Jason Melasi shoved over the top for a bit more from the button. Both blinds folded and the hands were turned up.

Jason Melasi: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Jeff Banghart: {k-Spades}{2-Spades}

Banghart fell even further behind on the {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop and was left drawing dead after the {6-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. The meaningless {5-Spades} was run out on the river and Banghart hit the rail in 39th place for $4,852.

Kapoor Flushed in Biggest Pot of the Tournament

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Jason Kapoor
Jason Kapoor

With approximately 600,000 in the pot and a flop of {2-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Spades}, action exploded between Jason Kapoor and Elliott Hebden that resulted in the former getting his remaining 1.6 million in the middle.

Jason Kapoor: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Elliott Hebden: {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}

Kapoor had flopped top set while Hebden played his nut-flush draw to the max. The {k-Clubs} turn was of no consequence but the {5-Spades} river was as Hebden found a spade to make his flush and send a stunned Kapoor to the rail in 19th place.

Michael Bennett Eliminated in 18th place ($14,398)

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Michael Bennett
Michael Bennett

Michael Bennett was in the small blind and moved all in for his last 350,000. Aaron Massey was in the big blind and called.

Michael Bennett: {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Aaron Massey: {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Bennett took the lead on the {3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop, but still had to dodge many outs. The {8-Diamonds} turn card improved Massey's gut shot straight draw into an open ended straight draw, which he nailed on the {9-Clubs} river. Bennett was eliminated in 18th.

Lou Ojeda Eliminated in 17th Place ($14,398)

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Lou Ojeda
Lou Ojeda

With around 600,000 in the pot and a board reading {7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, Lou Ojeda got his stack of 1.15 million all in against Elliott Hebden in spot primed for a double.

Elliott Hebden: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Lou Ojeda: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Ojeda was ahead with two pair but Hebden has been on a heater. That was evidenced when the {a-Hearts} spiked on the river to give him a bigger two pair and another robust pot. Meanwhile, Ojeda was left shaking his head as he headed to the payout desk to collect $14,398 for his 17th-place finish.

Tracy Sibson Eliminated in 16th Place ($14,398)

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Tracy Sibson
Tracy Sibson

Tracy Sibson moved all in from the hijack for 365,000. Ralph Massey was next to act and put in the chips to call. All of the remaining players folded and the players turned their cards over.

Ralph Massey: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Tracy Sibson: {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The {7-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop presented some chops outs, and the {10-Spades} turn gave Sibson flush outs. The {j-Clubs} river locked up the hand for Massey, and Sibson was eliminated in 16th.

Andy Tran Eliminated in 15th Place ($17,215)

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Andy Tran
Andy Tran

Erik Koch raised to 175,000 in middle position, Andy Tran was next to act and moved all in for 805,000. The action folded back around to Koch who snap called.

Erik Koch: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Andy Tran: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Tran was on the wrong side of this unavoidable cooler and was unable to improve as the {3-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts} flop, {3-Clubs} turn and {10-Hearts} river did not contain a king. Tran was eliminated in 15th.

Greg Jennings

Greg Jennings moved all in for 1.1 million from the cutoff and Andrew Holland called from the big blind.

Andrew Holland: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Greg Jennings: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

It was a flip but not after the flop came down {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{a-Spades} to give Holland trip aces. Jennings was looking for a high five to save his tournament life but the poker gods left him hanging as the {7-Clubs} bricked the turn followed by the {10-Clubs} on the river.
