Van Keirsbilck Gets a Big Hold

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Pat Steele was under the gun and raised to 8,000. Action folded around to Gary Herstein, who was in the small blind and called. Mark Van Keirsbilck was in the big blind and defended to take postflop action three ways.

The flop dropped {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and Herstein led out, firing 15,000. Van Keirsbilck announced he was all in, prompting a fold from Steele. Herstein called.

Mark Van Keirsbilck: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Gary Herstein: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Van Keirsbilck's top pair was up against two overcards and the nut flush draw, leaving him with 15 cards in the deck that would result in his elimination. Lucky for him, the turn {5-Diamonds} and river {4-Diamonds} were both safe, earning him the double at Herstein's expense.

Herstein Gets Another Double

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Gary Herstein shoved from early position and action folded around to Josh Reichard, who asked for a count. The number was totaled to be 42,500 and Reichard put out chips to call. All remaining players folded to send the two off to the races.

Gary Herstein: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Josh Reichard: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Herstein needed to fade Reichard's two overs and was able to do so as the runout came {9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{2-Spades}. Reichard turned over his hand as the runout finished and shipped the owed amount to Herstein, who now finds himself with just under 100,000 in chips after the double.

Calvo Applies the Pressure

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Jim Calvo opened to 9,000 from middle position and was called by Geremi Wicinski, who was in the cutoff. The two saw a flop of {8-Spades}{a-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Calvo made a continuation-bet for 20,000. Wicinski called.

The turn came {9-Spades} and Wicinski kept the heat on, announcing an all-in bet to put Wicinski to a decision for his remaining chips.

Wicinski thought for a few moments and then let his hand go, earning Calvo the pot along the way.

Camby and Reichard Climbing

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Pat Steele opened to 6,500 from the hijack and was called by Paul Camby, who was on the button. Action went heads up to the flop, which came {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Steele made a continuation-bet of 6,000 and Camby called.

Action checked through the turn {4-Diamonds} and river {2-Spades} to take the hand to showdown.

Camby tabled {k-Hearts}{10-Spades} upon checking back and it proved to be good as Steele sent his cards to the muck.

The pot brings Camby up to 279,000, though he still appears to be slightly behind Josh Reichard, who has chipped up to 291,000 since the break.

Herstein Calls It Off

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Gary Herstein
Gary Herstein

Ken Komberec was in the small blind and went all in after action folded around to him. Gary Herstein was in the big blind with slightly less chips.

"Did you look?" asked Herstein.

"I did," affirmed Komberec.

Herstein looked back at his cards and then exclaimed that he had a hand that is probably supposed to lose. He then focused on what Komberec had, assuming his hand was completely random. The thought process circled back to his decision and he threw in his chips to call all in.

Ken Komberec: {q-Spades}{5-Spades}
Gary Herstein: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Komberec confirmed that his hand was "supposed" to lose more times than not, but that was not likely to be reality. Herstein seemed genuinely shocked, asking how he could possibly be behind with nine high.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}.

"How do you like that flop?" asked Komberec, seeing Herstein pick up eight more outs in addition to his two live cards. Herstein displayed his satisfaction.

The turn fell {6-Diamonds} to fill up Herstein's straight, scoring the double along the way as the river {6-Spades} came to complete the runout, leaving Komberec short as Herstein found a double.

Durkin Wins a Flip To Double Before Break

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Players are on their final 10-minute break of the night.

Shortly before going on break, Josh Reichard pumped it up to 5,000 from middle position and action made its way around to Bradley Jansen, who called from the small blind. William Durkin was in the big blind and squeezed, three-betting all in for 33,300. Reichard shoved over the top of him and Jansen folded, sending the two off to the races.

Josh Reichard: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
William Durkin: {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The board ran out {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, giving Durkin a flush on the river to leave him with the best hand, resulting in a small fist-pump as the pot was sent his way.
