Leecy Calls Down Correctly

Level 3 : 100/300, 0 ante
Matthew Leecy
Matthew Leecy

Preflop action saw 5,000 exactly in the middle with two players holding cards in front of them to a flop of {8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Matthew Leecy checked in the hijack to his opponent on the button who bet 2,500. Leecy called.

The turn came {j-Clubs} and Leecy checked again. His opponent fired another 7,200 and Leecy thought for a few moments before calling. The river fell {2-Diamonds} and Leecy checked one final time. His opponent reached for chips, looking as if he would compile them into one stack, but proceeded to check behind before finishing the act.

The player on the button tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} upon checking back and Leecy showed {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, earning the pot with his pair of eights. With the pot, Leecy now finds himself over 100,000.

Small Blind: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

Morrison connected with the flop {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and remained ahead through the turn {a-Hearts} and river {q-Diamonds} to earn the double.

Engerman Gets Help To Stay Alive

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Lawrence Engerman
Lawrence Engerman

There was around 7,000 in the middle in a blind-on-blind battle with a board reading {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{q-Clubs}. The small blind fired out 9,000 and Lawrence Engerman piled all of his remaining chips in over the top out of the big blind. The small blind quickly called, much to Engerman's chagrin.

Lawrence Engerman: {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Small Blind: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

After flopping top two pair, Engerman saw his opponent's straight draw fill up on the turn before stacks got in. Luckily for him, the river came {10-Hearts} to further improve him to a full house, earning him a double and keeping him alive.

Hinde Gets an Early Stack

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Michael Hinde
Michael Hinde

Michael Hinde was just seen with a stack of more than double the 30,000 starting size and confirmed he had just more than doubled, sending a player to the rail in the process.

According to Hinde, he raised to 400 under the gun and received four calls. The flop came {k-}{10-}{7-} and Hinde made a continuation-bet of 1,400. A player behind him raised to 3,000 and got one call before action made its way back to Hinde, who went all in.

The player who raised him called all in, and the third player in the hand folded.

Michael Hinde: {7-}{7-}
Opponent: {k-}{10-}

Hinde had gotten bottom set in versus top two pair and two bricks rolled off to complete the runout and earn him the early pot. He now finds himself with a stack of over 68,000.

Steven Berkowitz also is off to a good start on the day, chipping up to over 52,000 on the same table after making a straight flush with {a-}{j-Diamonds} after the board came {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and paired on the river.
