Welcome to the $360 MSPT Grand Falls Casino Regional Event

Day 1a of the $360 MSPT Grand Falls Casino Regional Event gets underway at 5 p.m. local time, the first of three starting flights.

This two-day event features a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool and players will start with a stack of 25,000. Levels will be 30 minutes and there will be a 10-minute break every four levels. Late registration and re-entries will remain available until the start of Level 13.

Players are allowed one re-entry per flight and any player who advances can only enter a subsequent flight if they forfeit their stack. Play is scheduled to continue until whichever comes first between the end of Level 15 (3,000/5,000/5,000) or the field reaching 12% of its total entries for the day, at which point all remaining players will bag and tag their chips for the night.

The last MSPT Regional Event at Grand Falls Casino was held just over a year ago when Swadeep Mishra outlasted 370 runners and claimed $23,467.

Nieman Shows the Bluff

After two initial limpers, the button player raised to 1,800 and had five callers which included Josh Nieman from the big blind.

The flop was checked to the initial raiser who continued for 3,500. The small blind folded, Nieman raised to 8,500 and both the initial limpers mucked their hands.

Action was back on the button player who folded face up and Nieman showed while he scooped the pot.

Van Syckle Secures a Double

A player from early position opened for 1,800 and was called by the cutoff player before Bob Van Syckle squeezed for 14,900 from the small blind.

The big blind folded and action was back on the initial raiser who isolated.

Van Syckle had his opponent dominated but the flop gave him a sweat. The turn was safe for Van Syckle as paired the board and the river secured his double-up.

Fink Eliminated by Venners

Justin Venners opened for 2,100 from the cutoff and was called by Mike Fouts from the small blind before Mark Fink three-bet jammed for 9,200 from the big blind.

Action was back on Venners who came over the top and Fouts quickly folded his hand.

Moen Sends Two Packing

A player from early position opened for 3,100, the cutoff three-bet jammed for 10,400 and Chris Moen four-bet to 20,000 from the small blind. Action folded back to the initial raiser who called and left themselves just 200 behind.

Once the flop appeared, the early position player tossed their last 200 in the middle and Moen quickly called.

Moen took the lead after pairing his queen on the flop and neither the turn nor the river changed a thing, as he sent them both to the rail.

Camby Saved By the River

There were three players that saw a flop and the big blind player led out for 4,500. Paul Camby called from the button and Chris Moen called from the small blind as well.

Once the appeared on the turn, Moen checked to the big blind player who moved all in and Camby came over the top for 35,600. Action was back on Moen who called having both players covered.

Carrasco continued for 11,100 and then called off his 38,800 stack after his opponent moved all-in.

The MSPT Hall of Fame, established in 2017, is proud to recognize those individuals who have shown superior skill and achieved specific long-term accomplishments.

The criteria to earn a spot on the MSPT Hall of Fame is as follows:

Achieve a minimum of 25 MSPT Main Event Cashes and 1 MSPT Win OR 1 MSPT Player of the Year; or
Achieve a minimum of 10 MSPT Main Event Final Tables and 1 MSPT Win OR 1 MSPT Player of the Year
