Jason Bral Bags Heaps as 42 Survive After Day 1b of the MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Jason Bral Day 1b Chip Leader
Jason Bral Day 1b Chip Leader

Another full day of action has played to its conclusion in the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Venetian $1,100 Main Event. The second of three flights drew 405 entries, bringing the two-day total thus far to 790.

Of those 405 entries, 42 players remained when chips went into bags, and Jason Bral found himself atop the counts with a whopping 757,000.

He was the only player above 700,000 while WSOP bracelet winner Ethan "Rampage Poker" Yau (521,000), and Thomas Eychenne (512,000) were the only other players to make 500,000.

The top five is rounded out by the only other players to make it over 400,000 as Marko Doljevic bagged 457,000 while Nemanja Tatar ended with 401,000.

Much like Day 1a, the final level of the night saw an onslaught of casualties with chips flying all across the remaining tables that led to a lot of players riding roller coasters with their stack sizes.

Several other well-known players to the poker scene will also be joining the aforementioned five. Ken Baime (330,000), Jose Reyes (328,000), WSOP bracelet winner Brett Apter (198,000) and Kevin Garosshen (197,000) are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 46 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Among those not as lucky at the felt included Kyna England, MSPT Hall of Famer Jason Seitz, Vinny Pahuja, Ian Matakis, and Andrew Rubinberg, with at least a few if not all of them likely to be seen back in action for tomorrow's final flight.

PokerNews will be back tomorrow to bring you updates on the final flight from start to finish. Until then, take care.

Yau Goes On a Rampage With Cowboys

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Ethan Yau
Ethan Yau

Action folded to the player in the cutoff who raised to 9,000 only to have Ethan 'Rampage Poker' Yau three-bet to 25,000 from the button.

After the blinds folded, action was back on the initial raiser called and a {3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop hit the felt.

Yau's opponent check-called all three streets, 18,000 after the flop, 55,000 after the {2-Clubs} turn and an all in bet of 113,000 after the {8-Spades} completed the board on the river.

Ethan Yau: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

Yau picked up kings at a perfect time and eliminated his opponent who flopped a top-pair of queens.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Tatar

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Nemanja Tatar
Nemanja Tatar

A player from early position raised to 6,500 only to be faced with a four-bet by Nemanja Tatar, which he made from the hijack after the payer to his left three-bet to 19,000.

Action folded back to the initial raiser who called off his 131,000 stack and the player in late position folded.

Nemanja Tatar: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Tatar was trailing his opponents' pocket kings until an ace appeared in the window on the {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop.

The {2-Hearts} turn didn't change a thing nor did the {2-Clubs} that followed on the river and Tatar eliminated his opponent while climbing to the top of the chip counts in the process.

Kermani Hooks Cowboy's on the River

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Darius Kermani
Darius Kermani

A series of preflop raises saw heads-up all in action between Darius Kermani from late position and his opponent to his left with Kermani holding just slightly more with around 70,000.

Darius Kermani: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Kermani was in rough shape after the cards were tabled and the {2-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop didn't change a thing.

The {a-Hearts} turn left Kermani needing a jack on the river and luckily for him, the dealer answered his prayer as the peeled off the {j-Diamonds}, securing him the pot.

Payten Set Up by Yau

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Ethan Yau
Ethan Yau

The player under the gun opened for 2,200 and WSOP bracelet winner Ethan 'Rampage Poker' Yau three-bet to 5,200 from the next seat over.

Action folded around to Steven Payten who four-bet all in for roughly a 25,000 starting stack from the big blind and was called by Yau after the initial raiser folded.

Ethan Yau: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Steven Payten: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}

Payten was way behind and things got worse after the {10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop gave Yau top set.

The {2-Clubs} turn left Payten drawing dead and the {5-Clubs} river ended his tournament.

Valdez Eliminated by Garrison

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Kennie Garrison
Kennie Garrison

Action folded to Kennie Garrison who raised to 1,300 from the cutoff before calling Felipe Valdez's 15,000 three-bet jam from the button.

Felipe Valdez: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Kennie Garrison: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The {8-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop did pair Valdez but it wasn't the pair he wanted and neither the {9-Clubs} turn nor the {5-Spades} river were any help as he took his exit from the tournament.

Yanni Orfanos
Yanni Orfanos

The player from middle position opened for 1,000 and Yanni Orfanos three-bet to 5,500 from the cutoff. Action folded back to the initial raiser who four-bet all in for the starting 25,000 and Orfanos called off holding the same amount.

Yanni Orfanos: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

It was a classic race with Orfanos looking to hold and he did after the {9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Spades} board ran out.
