Cunniff Double Elimination Sends Him Over 1,000,000

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Gerald Cunniff
Gerald Cunniff

Gerald Cunniff has just eliminated a pair of players, as his flopped trip threes on a {j-}{3-}{8-} board had his opponent's {j-}{3-} and {a-}{10-} destroyed.

With the win, Cunniff is the first player to cross 1,000,000 chips.

Meanwhile, Lee Hurst, Arlie Brandvold, and Dave Sanderson were also eliminated.

Heiberg Eliminates Baumann on Bubble

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Patricia Baumann
Patricia Baumann

After the elimination of Michael Campbell in 56th place, bubble play did not last long as Patricia Baumann found herself all-in preflop for about 100,000 and called by Jeff Heiberg.

Patricia Baumann: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}
Jeff Heiberg: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Baumann's ace was dominated, and the board of {3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts} brought no help to Baumann, who bursts the bubble and guarantees the remaining 54 players at least $2,202.

Rachow Takes From New Hall of Famer Kirby

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Before today's event, Matt Kirby was presented his MSPT Hall of Fame trophy, then he began his day in the tournament quickly chipping up over 500,000.

However, Patrick Rachow just threw a small wrench into Kirby's start in a recent hand.

With over 100,000 in the pot already on a flop of {8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, Kirby led for 40,000 from the small blind, which Rachow called.

On the {k-Spades} turn, Kirby checked and Rachow moved all in for approximately 150,000.

After a couple of minutes in the tank, Kirby folded {j-Spades}{j-Clubs} face up to cede the hand to Rachow.
