Nguyen Gets a River Fold, Chipping Up

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

From early position, a player opened to 2,600. JC Nguyen was on the button and decided to call to see a flop, the blinds folded.

The flop came low and connected on the {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} board. Both players checked the street.

The turn put a four-liner out when the {5-Spades} landed. The early-position player bet 5,000 and Nguyen quickly called.

The river was the {8-Diamonds}, this time Nguyen saw his opponent check. He decided to bet 15,000. His opponent mucked and Nguyen took down the pot, climbing the leaderboard to near the top.

Chris Moen

Mark Hodge raised to 4,000 from early position and ran into a three-bet from Chris Moen on the button to 12,500. Hodge made the call and the two went to a flop.

The board showed up {j-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Hodge checked in flow. Moen continued with a bet of 16,500. Hodge thought about the spot for about 45 seconds before moving all the chips in, about 40,000. Moen made the call.

Mark Hodge: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Chris Moen: {k-}{k-}

The cooler left Hodge drawing thin, the {2-Spades}{10-Spades} runout changed nothing, and Moen took down the large pot that sent Hodge to the rail.
