Starting Flight Outlook

Today marks the first of three starting flights and play is set to get underway at 3 p.m. local time. Plenty of MSPT regulars are expected to make their way to Riverside from throughout the country in hopes of adding an MSPT Main Event title to their name.

The standard MSPT Main Event structure is in play, with 25,000 starting stacks and blinds beginning at 100/100/100. Levels will increase every 40-minutes throughout the entirety of the tournament.

Fifteen levels are scheduled for Day 1a play, unless 12% of the field is reached prior, with breaks occurring after the completion of every three levels, or two hours of play. Late registration is open until the beginning of Level 13 at approximately 11:40 p.m. local time.

Powell's Pair is Better

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

There was heads-up action between Reg Powell from the button and Peyton Smith from the big blind.

The board read {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}, Smith led out for 1,500 and Powell called to see the {5-Spades} complete the board on the river.

Smith fired out another bullet of 4,000 and Powell looked him up.

Smith rolled over {k-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a pair of sevens but it was no good as Powell held {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} to scoop the pot.
