The 2022 Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) continues this weekend with another stop in the great state of Iowa for the $1,100 buy-in, $500,000 GTD Main Event at Riverside Casino, just 10-minutes south of Iowa City.
This is the third time the MSPT will be returning to Riverside Casino, which saw turnouts of 862 and 928 during its last two stops in March and July 2021.
Both outings awarded over $100K for first place with Daniel Sepiol taking down the inaugural event for $162,750 while Timothy Gundrum secured $170,769 for his victory.

Today marks the first of three starting flights and play is set to get underway at 3 p.m. local time. Plenty of MSPT regulars are expected to make their way to Riverside from throughout the country in hopes of adding an MSPT Main Event title to their name.
The standard MSPT Main Event structure is in play, with 25,000 starting stacks and blinds beginning at 100/100/100. Levels will increase every 40-minutes throughout the entirety of the tournament.
Fifteen levels are scheduled for Day 1a play, unless 12% of the field is reached prior, with breaks occurring after the completion of every three levels, or two hours of play. Late registration is open until the beginning of Level 13 at approximately 11:40 p.m. local time.

There was heads-up action between the hijack and Harold Brenden from the small blind with a completed board of showing.
With 4,700 already in the middle, Brenden led out for 2,500 and it was enough to push his opponent off the pot.

The board read , Smith led out for 1,500 and Powell called to see the complete the board on the river.
Smith fired out another bullet of 4,000 and Powell looked him up.
Smith rolled over for a pair of sevens but it was no good as Powell held to scoop the pot.
