Day 1a of the $1,100 MSPT Main Event Kicks Off Shortly at Sycuan Casino Resort in San Diego
Welcome to Day 1a of the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour(MSPT) $1,110 Showdown Series Main Event at San Diego’s Sycuan Casino Resort. Cards go in the air at 3 p.m. PST for the first of three flights in which players will compete for their share of a $300,000 guarantee to kick off MSPT's 13th season.
Missouri’s Matt Paten took down the last MSPT event held at Sycuan Casino Resort, taking home $94,882 for winning the recently revived United States Poker Championship in September of 2021. Paten outlasted 456 entries in what was the second event in the first year of San Diego's MSPT tour stop.

Players will receive 25,000 in chips and unlimited re-entries are allowed in every flight. Registration is open until the beginning of Level 13, and levels will last 40 minutes. The surviving players from the opening three flights will meet for Sunday’s Day 2 finale at 11:00 a.m. local time.
The 13th season of the MSPT will kick off with Kyna England defending her Player of the Year title after winning MSPT’s Winter Poker Classic at Minnesota’s Canterbury Park in December. This weekend’s stop is the first on a tour that will head to Black Hawk Casino in Colorado Jan. 19-30 before stopping at the Venetian Feb. 10-12.
