Day 1a Started

Welcome to Day 1a of the MSPT Venetian Main Event

MSPT Venetian
MSPT Venetian

Welcome to Day 1a of the $1,100 Main Event at the final Mid-States Poker Tour(MSPT) stop of the year at Venetian Las Vegas. Cards go in the air at 11:10 a.m. local time for the first of two flights in the closing event of the MSPT season.

As the season comes to an end, Josh Reichard sits stop the 2023 leaderboard with 6,422 points, and he has one more opportunity to add to that total before the season wraps up on Friday. He’s followed on the leaderboard by CJ Peake with 5,775 and Dan Bekavac with 5,282. The total number of points available in a given tournament is based on the number of entries, but a win for Peake or Bekavac in the final week of the season could make things interesting.

Players will sit down with 25,000 in chips and play 40-minute levels throughout the two-day tournament. Registration will remain open until approximately 5:55 p.m. and players can reenter as many times as they wish during both flights. Surviving players will return on Friday at 11:00 a.m. to play for the guaranteed prize pool of $300,000 on Day 2.

Be sure to keep it with the PokerNews team all week long for live updates from the floor of the $1,100 Main Event at MSPT Venetian.

Jordison Takes an Early Pot

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Action was heads up with a full board of {7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} when Angela Jordison bet around 1,500 from the small blind. Her opponent went into the tank for a few moments from two seats over before he finally tossed out the chips to call. Jordison turned over {k-Spades}{2-Clubs} to take the pot with kings full of deuces while her opponent mucked and possibly said that he had a flush.

Elsewhere at the same table, Francis Anderson has taken a seat.

Savvides Takes Down a Few Pots

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Action was heads up with {7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts} when the small blind checked before Marios Savvides bet 2,600 from the big blind. Another player in middle position got out of the way and the small blind tossed out chips to call. Savvideos turned over {a-Spades}{4-Hearts} for three fours and the small blind tossed the losing hand in the muck.

Savvides took down the next hand when he turned over {5-}{5-} at showdown against two opponents that missed the board, and then he took another small pot with a 3,000 bet on the flop.
