Day 1a of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Running Aces $1,110 Main Event is officially in the books with 238 total entries tallied by night's end.

After a full 15 levels were played to their completion, just 31 players were able to find a Day 2 birth with two players tying for the top spot.

Matt Wolff's late-night heater soared him to the top of the counts where he is joined by Kirby Rogers for the chip lead with 506,000.

The top five is rounded out by the only other three players to bag north of 300k: Anthony Sedlak (363,000), Loki Abboud (361,000), and Luke Struck (326,000).

Day 1b will get underway at Noon on Friday, December 9th. Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 12 (approximately 9:10 p.m.). PokerNews will be on hand to capture all the action, so be sure to join us then.

A player from middle position raised and Loki Abboud called from the cutoff before Matt Wolff three-bet from the button.

Action folded back to Abboud who four-bet jammed and Wolff called off his 103,000 stack.

Matt Wolff: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Loki Abboud: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Wolff woke up with the weapons of mass destruction once again and they paid off as the {4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} runout secured his double-up.

Bekavac Trumps Wright

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Dan Bekavac
Dan Bekavac

Erick Wright raised from middle position and then called the 6,000 three-bet four-time MSPT champ Dan Bekavac made from the small blind.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, Bekavac continued for 9,000 and then called the 50,000 all in raise from Wright.

Erick Wright: {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Dan Bekavac: {4-Spades}{2-Spades}

Bekavac was ahead with bottom pair while Wright held two overs with an open-ended straight draw.

Luckily for Bekavac, neither the {q-Hearts} turn nor the {6-Spades} river improved Wright as he made his exit from the tournament field.

Sedlak Rivers Better Two Pair, Drops Lehmann

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Anthony Sedlak
Anthony Sedlak

There was heads-up action between Anthony Sedlak from the small blind and Daniel Lehmann from the big blind with a completed board of {3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{q-Spades} showing.

Lehmann held one of the larger stacks in the room and was faced with an all in raise from Sedlak who held more chips.

After some careful thought, Lehmann called, and the two players tabled their hands.

Lehmann rolled over {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for a turned two-pair but it was second best as Sedlak showed {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for top two-pair to send Lehmann packing.

Wolff Out Kicks Kim for Double

Level 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Kari Wolff
Kari Wolff

There were three players that saw a {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop and action was checked to the cutoff player who fired out a pot sized 5,000 bet.

Kari Wolff check-jammed for 15,400 from the big blind and only Jun Kim called from middle position.

Kari Wolff: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Jun Kim: {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Both players flopped trip queens, but Wolff held the better kicker and neither the {6-Hearts} turn nor the {3-Spades} river changed a thing as she collected her double-up.
