While PokerNews is here offering live updates for the $1,100 Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about some of the side events that have taken place out over the past week for the Winter Poker Classic here at Running Aces Casino.
In Event #2: $250 NLH Sunday Feast, 190 runners created a $38,000 prize pool that was paid out to the top 21 players.
Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Gerald Starr (10th - $722), Bob Van Syckle (13th - $570), Beile Li (16th - $494), and James Erickson (21st - $456).
In the end, it was Michael Winter who collected every chip in play to capture the MSPT Winter Poker Classic Trophy, along with a $8,122.

Kitkat Klassen raised to 1,000 under the gun and then called a 2,500 three-bet Todd Melander made from the button.
The flop saw Klassen check-call a 2,000 continuation bet from Melander, and the turn was checked by both players to the river.
Klassen led out for 6,200 and Melander snap called. Klassen rolled over but it was no good as Melander showed to win the pot.

There was heads-up action between Max Havlish from under the gun and Russ Regan from the cutoff after a flop.
Havlish check-jammed for 11,700 after Regan fired out 1,000 and Regan called.

Havlish flopped a set of deuces but didn't like seeing Regan already held the flush.
The turn didn't improve Havlish, but the river did, as it paired the board to improve his hand to full house and secured his double-up.

There was three-way action after a flop and Robert Willems led out for 1,100 from the big blind.
Thai Dinh called from the hijack while Jay Philips raised to 3,200 from the button. Willems called as did Dinh, and the fell on the turn.
Willems led out for 10,000 and Dinh raised all in for 11,300. Philips quickly mucked her hand while Willems called and the two players tabled their hands.
