While PokerNews is here offering live updates for the $1,100 Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about some of the side events that have taken place out over the past week for the Winter Poker Classic here at Running Aces Casino.

In Event #3: $185 NLH Multi-Flight, 424 runners created a $61,480 prize pool that was paid out to the top 45 players.

Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Beile Li (10th - $984), John Stanley (12th - $984), Thai Dinh (16th - $676), and Clint Leitheiser (29th - $369).

In the end, it was Ed Veith who collected every chip in play to capture the MSPT Winter Poker Classic Trophy, along with a $13,427.

David Gonia raised to from early position 1,800 and Cory Cove called from the small blind.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Cove check-called a 1,500 continuation bet from Gonia bringing the {8-Spades} turn.

Action went check-check and the {j-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Cove led out for 2,800 only to quickly release his hand after Gonia raised to 15,000.

The MSPT Hall of Fame, established in 2017, is proud to recognize those individuals who have shown superior skill and achieved specific long-term accomplishments.

The criteria to earn a spot on the MSPT Hall of Fame is as follows:

  • Achieve a minimum of 25 MSPT Main Event Cashes and 1 MSPT Win OR 1 MSPT Player of the Year; or
  • Achieve a minimum of 10 MSPT Main Event Final Tables and 1 MSPT Win OR 1 MSPT Player of the Year
