Jacks Good for Tumulak

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Richard Tumulak on Day 1b
Richard Tumulak on Day 1b

Multiple bets went in preflop for the under-the-gun Mike Vanier and Richard Tumulak in the big blind to each commit 5,500 preflop, with Steve Wilkie calling the initial raise in middle position before folding to the subsequent aggression.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Tumulak checked to Vanier, who bet 5,000. Tumulak thought for a few moments and then check-shoved for 11,200, receiving a quick call from Vanier for the difference.

"Aces or kings?" asked Tumulak, showing {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. Vanier tabled one of each, {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, and Tumulak held as the turn {8-Hearts} and river {5-Diamonds} completed the runout.

"Let's go! One for JJ!" said Tumulak, clapping his hands together once as he did so.

"JJ!" said Wilkie from across the table. "King-four of clubs!" he added, telling Tumulak what he had and implying his flopped trips would have been best had he been in the pot.

"I know, that's why I went with the raise," responded Tumulak. "To get you out,"

"I should have just went with my gut," said Wilkie.
