The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will be returning to the Venetian Las Vegas September 4-6 for what is sure to be another massive $1,100 Main Event, as is evidenced by the accompanying $500K Guarantee.

Per usual, MSPT Venetian will headline an entire series' worth of events held from August 30 through September 26, with two starting flights before the field combines on Sunday to compete for the MSPT title.

Recent MSPT Venetian winners include Chance Kornuth ($412,086) Harlan Miller ($367,801), Johnny Oshana ($130,000), James Carroll ($180,850), Korey Payne ($327,773), and Landon Tice ($201,529).

Who will be the next one to add their name to the list of aforementioned champions? PokerNews will be on hand to provide live updates as the answer to that question is determined.

Peter Johnson
Peter Johnson

Peter Johnson opened in the cutoff and called a re-jam from the big blind for 14,500.

All-In Player: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Peter Johnson: {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Johnson hit a king on the flop {4-Spades}{j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and remained ahead through the {5-Spades}{a-Hearts} runout to send the short stack packing. The pot was the second sizeable one he has won of late, also having recently doubled with the first royal flush of his poker career.

Gutierrez Flips Well

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Zach Gutierrez
Zach Gutierrez

Zach Gutierrez was down to his last 6,200 and re-shoved from middle position over an early-position open. The player on the button came over the top for a covering stack to the opener, forcing him out of the pot.

"Ace-king?" asked Gutierrez. His opponent nodded, lifting his cards up for Gutierrez to see before both players' cards went onto the felt face-up.

Zach Gutierrez: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

A ten-high runout {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds} left Gutierrez on the right end of the coin flip, earning him the double to

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Noomis Jones
Noomis Jones

Noomis Jones raised to 1,000 under the gun and action folded around to the player on the button, who re-jammed for 13,900. Jones deliberated for a few moments and then found a call.

All-In Player: {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Noomis Jones: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Jones asked for a jack going to the flop and instead received a ten as {8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} rolled onto the felt. The all-in player then found himself with 12 outs and two chances to hit them, neither of which connected as the turn {5-Hearts} and river {6-Hearts} completed the runout to earn Jones the pot and the knockout.

Ross Lantzy
Ross Lantzy

A player raised to 2,200 in early position and Ross Lantzy called in the cutoff. The big blind also came along and the three players saw a flop of {4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. The big blind checked and the original raiser continuation-bet 5,000. Only Lantzy called.

The turn came {j-Clubs} and the original raiser fired a second barrel of 8,000. Lantzy fanned out chips on the table, presenting a raise to 22,000, and his opponent thought for about 15 seconds before shooting his cards to the muck.
