Day 1c Started

Welcome To Day 1c of the MSPT Black Hawk $360 Regional

Bally's Black Hawk (Golden Gates), Colorado
Bally's Black Hawk (Golden Gates), Colorado

It's time for Day 1c of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Black Hawk $360 Regional. A total of 385 entries have been recorded through the first two starting flights with 54 players having already advanced to Sunday's Day 2. Day 1a chip leader James Rodriguez's 675,000 well ahead of the rest of the field, though two more flights remain for the competition to try to catch him.

Players will start with 25,000 and blinds at 100/100 with a big-blind ante in play from the beginning. A total of 15 levels will be played for the day unless 12% of the field remains before that time, with all levels lasting 30 minutes. Breaks will occur after every two hours, or four levels of play, and will last 10 minutes each with the exception of a 40-minute dinner break after Level 12 (approximately 6:20 p.m. local time).

The tournament's $150K Guarantee is a virtual lock to be surpassed this afternoon as players make their way up the mountain to Bally's Black Hawk. Those who do will have unlimited chances throughout the registration period, which will last until the beginning of Level 13 (approximately 7 p.m. local time).

PokerNews will be on the floor capturing the action all day long, so be sure to stick around.

Wheeler Wins at Showdown

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante
Terry Wheeler on Day 1a
Terry Wheeler on Day 1a

Terry Wheeler raised it up in the cutoff and received three calls behind. The flop was {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and action checked to Wheeler, who continuation-bet 600. The player on the button raised to 1,400 and only Wheeler called. Both players then checked through the turn {k-Spades} and river {q-Spades} to take the hand to showdown.

Wheeler turned over {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, missing a flush draw but improving to kings up by showdown nonetheless. His opponent mucked and the pot was sent his way.

Dodson Shows Two Bullets

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Ryan Dodson
Ryan Dodson

A player raised to 400 in early position and Ryan Dodson three-bet to 2,300 one position over. Action folded back to the original raiser and he called.

The flop dropped {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Dodson's opponent checked to him. He made a continuation-bet of 1,800, sending his opponent into the tank. After nearly a minute had passed, the player looked back at his cards and then meekly released them onto the felt.

Dodson, also known as "Ace Dredlo," then began peeling back his two cards and then proceeded to flash them to his opponent before tossing them onto the middle of the table for all to see his {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}.
