Welcome to Day 1c of the $1,600 MSPT Venetian Main Event

Welcome to Day 1c of the $1,600 Main Event of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) stop at Venetian Las Vegas. The action will begin at 11:10 a.m. local time for the third and final starting flight.

This event offers a $750,000 guarantee, and there have been 435 entries so far from the first two starting flights. 17 players bagged out of 153 on Day 1a, and 32 players bagged out of 282 on Day 1b.

The top five counts so far of the 49 bagged stacks from the first two flights are Jesse Lonis (816,000), Bin Weng (706,000), Jared Jaffee (688,000), Errol Samuel (653,000), and Jessica Vierling (653,000).

Players will begin with 30,000 chips and levels will be 40 minutes each. Registration remains open until approximately 8:10 p.m. local time and reentries are unlimited. Play will continue until approximately 11% of the field remains, and all surviving players will be in the money and will return on Sunday for the Day 2 finale.

Alsup Chipping Up Early

A player opened in middle position and Rich Alsup three-bet to 1,300 on the button. Action folded back to the original raiser who called.

The flop landed and after a check, Alsup bet 1,200. His opponent called.

The turn brought another check before Alsup moved out another bet, this time for 3,000. His opponent called.

The completed the board, and after another check, Alsup fired out another bet for 7,000. The river bet cause his opponent to fold and the MSPT Hall of Famer collected the early pot.

Nghia Nguyen Wins $1,100 MSPT Venetian Main Event ($90,215)

Just before this $1,600 MSPT Venetian Main Event, the $1,100 MSPT Venetian Main Event played out and attracted 464 runners which generated a $447,670 prize pool. At the end of it, Nghia Nguyen defeated Dylan Linde in heads-up play to claim the title and $90,215.

Massey Doubles with Cowboys

A player opened from early position and Ralph Massey three-bet to 3,700 on the button. Action folded back to the original raiser who four-bet to 12,000, Massey five-bet jammed for 29,100, and his opponent called.

The flop changed nothing and the turn left Massey just needing to fade an ace. The completed the board and Massey secured the double.

Dunst Shoves on Moreno

With roughly 10,000 in the pot on a board, Tony Dunst checked the big blind, and Andrew Moreno checked in early position.

The completed the board and Dunst moved all in for 6,600. Moreno thought about it but ultimately decided to throw his cards into the muck to concede the pot, although he has continued to steadily chip up throughout the day.

Linde Takes From Wazwaz

With roughly 17,000 in the pot on a flop, Dylan Linde checked the big blind, an early position player checked, and Rob Wazwaz bet 10,000 in the hijack. Only Linde continued.

The duo checked down the turn and river, and Linde tabled to claim the pot as Wazwaz mucked.

Laplante Finds One of Many Outs

Barnum Spikes to Double

The dealer spread the flop and Barnum started to get up and walk around the table as the fell on the turn. However, the spiked the river to keep him alive as he fist-bumped Moreno and returned to his seat.

"Had to sweat it from the other side of the table," remarked Barnum, while the table was surprised that Moreno had finally lost an all-in today.
