Whalen Knows What To Do With Jacks

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante
Bob Whalen
Bob Whalen

Sok Chean open-jammed for 332,000 and action folded around to Bob Whalen in the big blind. He said, "I don't think I can find a fold here."

Indeed, he called and the hands were turned up.

Sok Chean: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Bob Whalen:{j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

An {a-Clubs} in the window gave Chean a smile but it quickly vanished when he saw the entire flop.

Flop: {9-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{a-Clubs}

The board ran out with the {7-Clubs} on the turn and the {9-Spades} on the river to give Whalen another knockout.

Dimmig Versus Dennehey

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

WSOP bracelet winner Jonathan Dimmig went all in from early position and was snap-called by John Dehenney, who had Dimmig covered.

Jonathan Dimmig: {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
John Dennehey: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Dimmig was desperately in need of help and some hope appeared when the {3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop gave him a flush draw.

The table was shocked when the {j-Clubs} appeared on the turn to give Dimmig the flush, but the table was almost knocked over when the river {3-Hearts} ended the hand giving Dennehey a full house, aces full of threes.

It took a good minute for the table to calm down after such a huge hand but the congratulations were expressed to Dennehey as he stacked up his chips.

Yoo Loses On The River

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

Facing a raise to 80,000 from Terry Fleischer in the cutoff, Austin Yoo announced he was all in for 800,000 in the small blind position.

Action folded back around to Fleischer, who had to make a decision for his tournament life. After a few moments of consideration, Fleischer called off and cards were turned over.

Austin Yoo: {10-}{10-}
Terry Fleischer: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

The {j-}{9-}{3-} flop gave Fleischer two more outs with a gutshot straight draw. The turn {3-} continued to give Yoo hope that he was about to nearly double his stack but the {q-} river gave Fleischer top pair and the win.

The entire table erupted with emotion at the suck out that had just occurred.

"I even folded a jack," muttered another player as Fleischer stacked his new chips and Yoo sat with his jaw still dropped.
