A Scream Rang Out in the Poker Room

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

"Oh No!" was yelled out in the poker room by Wade Bowling. With 27 players remaining, Bowling had just called Kou Yang's all-in on a rainbow board of {a-}{q-}{7-}{4-}{8-}

Bowling: {a-}{j-}

Yang: {q-}{q-}

Bowling continued to show his frustration at making such a deep run and falling short of bagging.

Two Long-time MSPT Players Get Heads Up

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Kou Yang
Kou Yang

With a flop of {9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}, Kou Yang in the hijack position put out a bet of 5,500.

Rodger Johnson was directly to his left in the cutoff position and decided to raise to 13,500.

Yang immediately re-raised to 31,000.

Johnson asked for a count of what Yang had remaining or at least asked to see what he chips he had.

Johnson took a good long moment to think before he eventually folded. "Tens" was heard from Johnson as he spoke quietly to another player at the table.

Jeff Heiberg
Jeff Heiberg

Jeff Heiberg approached the PokerNews team with an excellent hand recap that occured just before break began.

Heiberg recaps it like this:

Heiberg: {8-}{8-}

Opponent: {q-}{q-}

"There was a raise preflop before I acted and I made the call."

Flop: {8-}{q-}{x-}

"I bet. He raised. I re-raised. He shoved. I called but he had me covered."

Turn: {8-}

"Oh it was crazy! Quad eights vs his flopped set of queens that turned a boat."

Heiberg is looking strong with just over 80,000 and 28 players remaining.

Menard Claims a Pot

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jeremy Menard
Jeremy Menard

Jeremy Menard min-raised to 4,000 from the hijack position and only the player in the big blind made the call.

Flop: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The opponent in the big blind checked his action to Menard who put out a bet of 3,500. The player in the big blind position made the call.

Turn: {q-Spades}

Both players checked their action and the river came {a-Spades}.

Again both players checked and Menard turned over {q-}{9-} for Kings full of Nines.

Menard's opponent let out a frustrated sign and threw his cards into the muck. "Ughhh. I had pocket jacks there."

Rodger Johnson
Rodger Johnson

There was 24,000 in the pot before a flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} was displayed.

Suprena Kretchman checked her action from the big blind position and Rodger Johnson put out a bet of 14,000 from the button position. Kretchman made the call.

Turn: {q-Spades}

Kretchman checked her action again and Johnson bet 15,000. Kretchman called Johnson's bet.

River: {2-Diamonds}

With a flush draw getting there on the river, Kretchman immediately went all-in. Something unique happened just after Kretchman went all-in. Kretchman made a loud sigh. Louder than the music in the room or most conversations at or near the table. She followed her sigh with this comment, "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I have no poker face!"

Johnson went into the tank with his decision. He gave Kretchman more time to comment but she suddenly became quiet.

Johnson slowly pushed calling chips forward and Kretchman immediately appeared disappointed. "Good call! Good call."

Johnson turned over {a-}{8-} for a pair of eights.

Johnson stared at her cards only for a moment before turning his hand over.

{5-}{5-} gave Johnson a flopped set and the pot.
