Double Knockout for Antar to Reach the Bubble

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Joe Antar
Joe Antar

The money bubble has been reached as two players were eliminated in the same hand.

Carlos Gonzalez raised and picked up two calls by Navid King in the small blind and Joe Antar in the big blind. On a {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop, the action checked to Gonzalez and he bet 12,000. King jammed for 90,000 and Antar called, as did Gonzalez.

After the {3-Spades} turn, Antar moved all in and Gonzalez called it off for around 100,000.

Navid King: {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Carlos Gonzalez: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Joe Antar: {k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The {7-Hearts} on the river was a blank and it turned out that the double knockout reduced the field to the final 64, eight players each on eight tables.

Senic Felted by Kempson

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Andrej Senic
Andrej Senic

Andrej Senic and Corey Kempson had previously tangled already and would just clash again.

Kempson opened to 15,000 and Senic jammed for what appeared to be 165,000, which Kempson called after brief consideration.

Andrej Senic: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Corey Kempson: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The board came {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and the kicker played to send Senic to the rail.

Big Double for Colaneri

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Christopher Colaneri
Christopher Colaneri

Patrick Yazbeck is no longer in his seat as Trevor Godfrey had been moved there and a big hand played out that involved Christopher Colaneri and Yisi Zhang. The former was all in for 163,500 and Zhang quickly called.

Christopher Colaneri: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Yisi Zhang: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

The board came {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Colaneri spiked the two outer to survive.

Khoueis Downed With Kings

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Sam Khoueis
Sam Khoueis

On a flop of {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, a bet of 30,000 was in front of Yisi Zhang and Sam Khoueis then moved all in for 69,000 in total. Zhang had check-raised and was sent deep into the think tank. Zhang eventually called and the cards were turned over.

Sam Khoueis: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Yisi Zhang: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

As soon as the {7-Clubs} hit on the turn, Khoueis grabbed his hands in disgust and threw them towards the dealer, who proceeded to deliver the {10-Clubs} on the river. Khoueis had jumped out of his seat by then and stormed out of the tournament area.

Zammit is Back in the Game

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Shaun Zammit
Shaun Zammit

Shaun Zammit scored an early double and then doubled again through Reza Vakili. They got it in after the {7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} flop with Zammit holding {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for top set while Vakili had the {a-Spades}{q-Spades} for the nut flush draw.

The {9-Diamonds} turn and {9-Spades} river improved both players and Zammit doubled with a full house.

Shortly after, Monil Gohil jammed and Zammit reshoved from one seat over.

Monil Gohil: {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Shaun Zammit: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The board came {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and that spelled the end for Gohil.

"Back in the game," another player at the table remarked to Zammit, who jumped to an above-average stack.

Moussa First to Go on the Feature Table

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Chris Moussa
Chris Moussa

Chris Moussa shoved from the middle position for 47,500 and so did Martin Ward after finding out how much it was for. Ward had 115,000 himself and the rest of the table folded.

Chris Moussa: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Martin Ward: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for Ward to hold with his pair for the higher two pair than the board to eliminate Moussa.

Who Will Reach The Final Table of the 2019 The Star Sydney Champs Main Event?

Jason Pritchard among the big stacks for Day 2
Jason Pritchard among the big stacks for Day 2

It has been a record-breaking series at the 2019 The Star Sydney Champs festival and the A$3,000 Main Event put the cherry on top as a field of 600 entries smashed the previous attendance record of the previous year, when a field of 522 entries had emerged. With both starting days completed, only 123 hopefuls remain in contention and the top 63 spots will take home a portion of the A$1,680,000 prize pool.

Leading the field into Day 2 is Sydney's Cezary Klimczak, who bagged up 414,500 on Day 1b, which is good enough for 138 big blinds when the action resumes in level 12 at blinds of 1,500/3,000 with a running ante of 500. He is followed by Michael Tran (381,000), Trevor Godfrey (375,000), Nickolas Oiberman (338,500) and Brian O'Farrell (336,500), while Day 1a chip leader Jo Snell sits in sixth place overall with 335,000.

Other notables that will return to their seats at The Star Sydney near Darling Harbour with an above-average stack for Day 2 are Jason Pritchard (313,000), John Rosario (278,500), Navid King (274,000), Michael Kanaan (264,000), Luke Edwards (263,000), Mazyar Misaghian (247,000), Shivan Abdine (247,000), Corey Kempson (223,000), Murray Chick (203,000), Win Tan (195,200), Robert Spano (188,500), Dylan Kehoe (173,000), and Guangyu Wang (154,700).

Several big names of Aussie poker also remain in contention as Billy Argyros, Connie Graham, David Hirst, Craig Blight, Matthew Wakeman, Chad Awerbuch and Gary Benson all have chips at their disposal. The Kiwis Hamish Crawshaw, Graeme Putt and Wenjian Qiu made the short trip over to the coast of New South Wales and Will Davies, Sebastian Trisch and Haoran Zhang are among the international players in the field.
