Yong Leads, Chan Out-flushes Loeser

Level 22 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Richard Yong has been applying the pressure and has padded out his stack some more and Peter Chan and Manic Loeser are eating each other at the moment.

Chan opened the action with a raise to 250,000 from the button and Loeser made the call from the big blind and the dealer spread a monochrome {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts} flop.

This was checked by both players, as was the {q-Hearts} turn and the {8-Hearts} river. Loeser re-checked his cards and led out for a bet of 330,000 and Chan did not take too long to make the call.

Loeser showed down {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a flush, but Chan had him just out-pipped with {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and scooped the pot to climb to 4.4 million and Loeser is now the shortest stack with 2.45 million.

John Juanda Eliminated in 4th Place (HK$4,448,000)

Level 22 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

The casualties are coming thick and fast now and less than a minute after Chan Wai Leong hit the rail there was another all-in confrontation with John Juanda and Richard Yong getting all the chips in pre-flop.

Juanda was the man to pull the trigger first, moving all-in from the button for 1.7 million and Yong made an extremely quick call and the cards were turned over.

John Juanda: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Richard Yong: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Juanda was racing for his tournament life but fell behind as soon as the dealer spread the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} flop.

The {6-Hearts} turn was close to a five, but not close enough and the {q-Hearts} river completed the hand, and Juanda’s tournament and the Indonesian player hit the rail in fourth place for a $595,037 payday.

That late card rush shot Yong into the chip lead and he stacked up to 5.4 million.

Chan Wai Leong Eliminated in 5th Place (HK$3,180,000)

Level 22 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante
Chan Wai Leong

The action is coming to the boil now and a huge hand played out between the final table’s two remaining Malaysian players Richard Yong and Chan Wai Leong that saw the latter’s tournament come to a close in a rather brutal fashion.

It was Leong who was the initial aggressor, making it 250,000 to go from under-the-gun and Yong made the call from the big blind to take both players to the {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop.

Yong check-called Leong’s 250,000 c-bet and the {k-Diamonds} hit the turn, bringing another check from Yong and a second barrel from Leong, this one a slightly larger 450,000.

Yong quickly announced he was all-in and Leong rocked back in his chair looking puzzled. However, he decided to make the call for his tournament life and the cards were turned over.

Chan Wai Leong: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Richard Yong: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}

While Leong held the lead with two pair Yong had a straight draw which hit when the {9-Hearts} landed on the river to bring Loeng’s deep run in the Main Event to an end and he departed with $407,101 while Yong stacked up t0 3.7 million.

Chan Edges in Front

Level 22 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Peter Chan is playing his rush and has just edged into the chip lead. Manig Loeser opened to 260,000 from the button and Chan re-raised to 525,000 from the small blind. John Juanda thought about it for a bit but eventually folded, as did Loeser and Chan raked in the pot to edge in front.

Triple for Chan

Peter Chan moved all-in for 965,000 from the cutoff and John Juanda made the call from the button, as did Chan Wai Leong in the big blind and the action went three-way to the {8-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop.

With chips still behind Leong and Juanda checked the {6-Hearts} turn and the {j-Diamonds} river with Leong showing down {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. This was ahead of Juanda’s {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} but not ahead of Chan’s {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} nut flush and the Hong Kong player tripled to 2.9 million.

John Juanda
John Juanda

The first hand back after the break saw Manig Loeser raise the button and John Juanda move all-in from the big blind with Loeser calling quickly.

John Juanda: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Manig Loeser: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Juanda was racing for his tournament life and immediately took the lead in the hand when the flop fell {a-Spades}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts} with the {a-Spades} showing in the window. The {q-Clubs} turn kept the Indonesian player in the lead and he locked in the double when the {j-Diamonds} completed the hand.

Loeser Sets Up Yong

Level 21 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante

Manig Loeser and Richard Yong have tangled in another pot with the German having the best of it once again and taking a big bite out of Yong’s stack.

The action was reminiscent of the earlier hand the two played, with Loeser making it 210,000 to go from the cutoff and Yong defending his big blind once again.

The {9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop saw Yong quickly check it over to Loeser, who looked like he picked something up and he checked it right back. The {3-Diamonds} turn saw Yong lead for 125,000 and Loeser mulled over the decision but chose to make the call and the dealer peeled off the {8-Diamonds} river.

Yong now checked and Loeser reached for a tower of turquoise 25k chips, sliding out a bet of 500,000 and Yong called instantly, but looked extremely unhappy when Loeser tabled {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a rivered set.

Yong flashed the German {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} before throwing his hand into the muck. Peter Chan moved all in shortly afterward to steal the blinds and antes and climb up to 1.2 million and the rest of the field remains pretty static at present.

Leong Chipping Up, Loeser and Yong Tangle

Level 21 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante

It appears that Malaysia’s Chan Wai Leong has been a busy bunny and has managed to run his stack up to over the 3-million mark to catch up with Richard Yong and Manig Loeser. Peter Chan is the current short stack and John Juanda is sitting there patiently in the middle of the pack.

However, the German player has not long extended his lead after tangling in a pot with Richard Yong. Loeser was the pre-flop aggressor, making it 210,000 to go from the cutoff and Yong decided to defend his big blind.

The flop fell {10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{a-Clubs} with Yong check-calling Loeser’s 125,000 continuation bet and the {2-Clubs} hit the turn. This brought checks from both players with Yong choosing to take a stab on the {8-Diamonds} river, leading out for a pot sized 400,000.

Loeser stared him down and slid in the call and Yong folded immediately leaving the German to scoop the pot and edge even more ahead of the rest of the field.
