Cates Thinks it Through; Ivey Pulls Some Back

Level 17 : 0/0, 50,000 ante

On the river of a board {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}, Gabe Patgorski bet 450,000 with the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Dan Cates called with the {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the straight to pull ahead further at the top of the counts, bumping his stack to 47% of the chips in play.

Phil Ivey limped in with the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Patgorski raised to 350,000 with {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, Ivey called. On the {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop, both players checked and the {A-Spades} on the turn was checked by Ivey, as did Patgorski. The {A-Hearts} river brought a bet of 300,000 by Patgorski and Ivey check-folded.

Cates made it 400,000 to go with the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Ivey called with {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. The flop came {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} and the action checked. On the {8-Clubs} turn, no betting action took place before Ivey bet the {6-Diamonds} river for 500,000 into a pot of 850,000.

After more than three minutes in the think tank, Cates let go and the pot was sent to Ivey.
