Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening. Whatever time it is where you are in the world reading these updates, welcome to Day 1b of Season 5's UKIPT Isle of Man Main Event where at 12:00pm local time Day 1b, the final starting flight, kicks off at the Villa Marina.

It's a beautiful day today; the wind is non-existent, the birds are singing in the trees and the sun is high in the sky, but it is the tournament floor of the Villa Marina where things are really hotting up as we prepare to bring you live coverage of this £400+£40 buy-in Main Event.

Thursday was Day 1a, which attracted 111 entries in total, a figure reduced to a more manageable 32 over the course of 12 45-minute levels. Poland's Adrian Filiczkowski was the name at the top of the chip counts when play ended for the night, thanks to him turning his 25,000 starting stack into a most impressive 247,600.

Others who joined Filiczkowski in progressing to Saturday's Day 2 include Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker, Team PokerStars Sport Star Fatima Moriera de Melo, Irish trio Dara O'Kearney, Daragh Davey and David Lappin and a whole host of top poker talent.

Day 1b should be even larger than Day 1a as those who bust on the opening flight are permitted to reenter and take another two shots at progressing to Day 2. The likes of Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano is almost certainly going to reenter after falling short on Day 1a and he'll be joined by fellow Red Spade wearing Jake Cody and Liv Boeree plus dozens of qualifiers who won their way to this tournament online at PokerStars.

The schedule for today mirrors that of Day 1a, with a dinner break at around 5:45pm and play ended around 11:00pm. Stay tuned to PokerNews as we bring you all of the action, as it happens, from the UKIPT Isle of Man Main Event.

The clock already displays 140 runners, and registration is still open for quite some time and players are able to re enter for 4 levels. Amongst the players are Paul Newey and Carl Harris who both also played yesterday, but didn't survive the day.

Rick Dacey, former PokerStars Blog writer and now works here for PokerStars on the island, made a deep run in the Rational employee event yesterday. He parlayed that money by buying into the Main Event here today. Dutchman Erik Mertens is also here in attendance, he just sat down after qualifying online.

Isle of Man Celebs Playing

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

There are 86,000 people living on the Isle of Man, so it's not too big. Despite that, there's quite a few people from the island who've made it big. Two of them have made it to the Villa Marina Arcade Harris Promenade for the UKIPT Isle of Man Main Event.

Conor Cummins and Zoe Gillings are playing today, not their first time playing this event. Here's some info from their Wikipedia-pages:

Conor Cummins (born 27 May 1986, Douglas, Isle of Man) is a Manx motorcycle road racer. Cummins rides extensively on the British Road Racing Circuit, competing in the British Superstock Championship as well as his home event the Isle of Man TT. He currently competes aboard a Honda CBR1000RR and a Honda CBR600RR.

Zoe Gillings (born 14 June 1985 in Isle of Man) is a British snowboarder.

At the 2006 Winter Olympics, Gillings finished 15th in the first ever women's Snowboard Cross. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Gillings finished 8th in the women's Snowboard Cross. At the 2014 Winter Olympics, Gillings finished 9th in the women's Snowboard Cross.

Owens the Bluffy Bluffer

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

On a flop of {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{K-Spades} we saw Ryan Plant in the big blinf bet out 1,300 into three opponents. The player under the gun gave up, Rick Dacey called from the cutoff, and Anthony Owens called from the button.

The {8-Diamonds} on the turn saw Plant bet out 2,750. Dacey released his hand into the muck but Owens had bigger plans. He raised it up to 5,000, only to be forced to make it 5,500 when Plant indicated he wanted to call.

The river came the {9-Hearts} and Plant checked. Owens quickly fired 9,000 into the pot and Plant went into the tank. He fiddled around with his chips for a bit, before committing them to the pot.

Owens said he didn't have much, and Plant showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} to take it down.

A Talented Trio

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

We've spotted another three familiar names in the tournament area, do you recognise them?

Two of them, Simon Trumper and Glenn Towsend are permanent fixtures at the Dusk Till Dawn poker club in Nottingham, which if you've played there you will certainly have seen them around. Trumper was also a star of Late Night Poker on TV, while Townsend won his seat to the Main Event in a live satellite last night.

Jeppesen is in good form having finished ninth in a UKIPT Marbella side event in June and followed that up with winning a £400+£40 buy-in event in the UK for a career-best £30,660 in September 2015.
