Hartigan Busts With Kings

James Hartigan has been back to the media desk to report a different kind of hand. This time, much to the dismay of Hartigan and media staff alike, he's busted out of the event.

Hartigan reports that he got his pocket kings in preflop for around 18 big blinds. Alessandro Spina moved in over the top with the biggest stack and the player in the big blind also called. Spina had ace nine and the big blind had queens.

In the end, Spina hit his ace to win the pot and Hartigan was sent to the rail. His next move was to drink a bottle of beer before he heads to the Player's Party later on.

Straghalis Doubles Up With Queens

Libby Wilson raised to 2,500 from under the gun and was called by Gerard Harraghy before Chris Straghalis moved all in from the big blind for 31,900. Wilson made the call and Harraghy folded. Straghalis was at risk as players flipped their cards.

Following an open limp, Gary Miller raised to 2,000 and Fintan Hand shoved all in from the small blind with a short stack. Miller called and players flipped their cards, with Hand at risk.

James Hartigan was quivering with excitement as he made his way over to the media desk shortly after busting Terence Jordon (who has since rebought).

"Report this now because this may never happen again!", said Hartigan. "I'm chip leader... I've never been chip leader."

Hartigan made a full house, sevens full of fives, against Jordon's trip fives early on in the tournament to take the lead.

Early Bustout as Yuzheng Sends Pateman to the Rail

The first hands of the day were being dealt and already the all-in triangle was in the middle of the table.

Action was on the river on a board of K♦J♣Q♣3♦Q♠. Ji Yuzheng checked and Joseph Pateman put out a bet. Yuzheng then check-raised all in. Pateman weighed it up and then made the call.

Yuzheng showed K♥K♠. He'd flopped a set and made a full house by the river. Pateman mucked his hand and exited the table as Yuzheng scooped the pot for an early double up.

UKIPT Brighton Main Event Continues With Day 1b & 1c

The PokerStars UKIPT is back in full swing at the Rendezvous Casino on the seafront of Brighton. Day 1b of the £1,100 Main Event kicks off today, starting at 12 p.m. local time.

Players will start the tournament with 30,000 chips and can have a maximum of three entries per flight. Blinds start at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante and levels progress every 40 minutes. There will be regular breaks throughout the day, including a 45-minute dinner break at the end of Level 6.

This is expected to be the busiest of the flights. A total of 15 percent of the field will make it through to Day 2 and those who do so will be in the money.

There will also be a turbo flight running later in the evening, starting at 7 p.m. local time.

Marian Ionut Farcas of Romania finished as the Day 1a chip leader with 656,000, while Bhavin Khatri came out in second place with 513,000.

The UKIPT Brighton Main Event runs until Sunday night, at which point a new champion will be crowned.
