100 Players Remain for Day 2 of the 2015 Unibet Open Antwerp

Day 2 will lead the field into the Money
Day 2 will lead the field into the Money

In half an hour from now at 12:00 local time, the "De Shop" in Antwerp welcomes back the 100 hopefuls out of a 321-entry strong field for Day 2 of the €1,100 Unibet Open Main Event in the "Diamond City" in Belgium. Less than one third of the field remains and as many of the participants will make the money with the top 36 spots receiving at least €2,087.

Day 1a chip leader Niko Koop maintained the top spot with his massive stack of 385,000 while 2013 Irish Open champion Ian Simpson (292,800) and 2011 Unibet Open Malta champion Mateusz Moolhuizen (274,900) complete the overnight podium. Other notables with above-average stacks include David Janssen (202,400), Morgan Wald (173,600), Matthias de Clercq (163,000), Bert Geens (150,800), Tobias Peters (147,600), Laurens de Smet (128,300) and Johan Verhagen (121,700).

Also still in are Marcel "the Flying Dutchman" Luske (101,300), Pieter de Korver (72,900), Micha Hoedemaker (68,800), Rolf Slotboom (64,500), Ruben Visser (63,600), Farid Chati (52,500), Philip Meulyzer (51,000), Raoul Refos (40,600), Pascal Vos (27,400) and 2013 Unibet Open Cannes champion Quentin Lecomte. Most of them will be under more pressure when play resumes with level 11 and blinds of 1,200-2,400 and a running ante of 300.

As of the third level of the day, there will also be a live stream of the feature table on the Unibet Twitch and Youtube accounts with a security delay of 30 minutes. The PokerNews live reporting team will provide text updates until the winner is crowned tomorrow, so don't miss out on the action and tune back in regularly.

Luske Doubles Through Peters

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske

Tobias Peters opened from the hijack and Marcel Luske called on the button to see a flop of {4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. A continuation bet of Peters was called and the {Q-Spades} came on the turn. Peters fired 13,700 and Luske moved all in for 83,300.

Some small talk between the two followed and the tournament staff reminded them to keep the small talk clean. Ultimately, Peters called with the {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and Luske turned over his {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a set. The blank {10-Spades} river put a huge dent into the stack of Peters and he fell all the way back to almost starting stack.

Quentin Lecomte Eliminated

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Quentin Lecomte
Quentin Lecomte

One of the two remaining former Unibet Open champions has hit the rail. In the previous hand, Quentin Lecomte had a lucky split pot with {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} versus {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} on a board of {7-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts} and then got it in with {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} against the {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} of Jessy Marillaud.

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and that was it for the Frenchman.

Peters Busts to Jerneskog

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Tobias Peters
Tobias Peters

Tobias Peters got the remainder of his stack in with {A-Spades}{9-Clubs} from the cutoff via four-bet shove and Jorgen Jerneskog looked him up from one seat over with the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}.

The flop {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} was devastating to say the least, as only two perfect cards could save Peters anymore. It was all over after the {2-Hearts} turn and the {3-Diamonds} was just a formality.

Emanuelsson Busts de Korver and Verbon

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Tim Verbon
Tim Verbon

Pieter de Korver got his short stack of what looked like 15 big blinds in from the button and Tim Verbon reshoved for more chips. Micael Emanuelsson peeked at his cards and then announced the call out of the big blind.

De Korver: {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Verbon: {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Emanuelsson: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

"Is my king live?" de Korver asked and that was indeed the case. However, neither of the players at risk found any help with the board running out {2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts} and the chips were shipped to Emanuelson. Johan Goslings was also eliminated shortly after as well.

Slotboom and Hoedemaker Eliminated

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 1,000 ante
Rolf Slotboom
Rolf Slotboom

Micha Hoedemaker and Rolf Slotboom have been eliminated at the same time on two different tables. The latter faced a raise to 10,500 by Micael Emanuelson in the hijack and a call by Hans Sybrandi in the cutoff before shoving the small blind for 115,000 effectively. Emanuelsson reraised and Sybrandi let go.

Slotboom: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Emanuelsson: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{K-Spades} and that was it for Slotboom, who shook hands with all opponents on the table before departing.

The Flying Dutchman Departs

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 1,000 ante
Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske

Ramon Ligthart raised to 10,000 and Marcel Luske moved all in for around 35,000 chips from one seat over to enforce folds all around. Initial raiser Ligthart though made the call and it was a coin flip for the tournament life of the "Flying Dutchman".

Ligthart: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Luske: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Luske shook hands with his table neighbor before departing the tournament area.

Moolhuizen Loses Huge Pot

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Paul Vergeer
Paul Vergeer

After a raise to 13,000, Paul Vergeer called on the button and Mateusz Moolhuizen squeezed to 48,000 on the button. Only Vergeer called and they saw a flop of {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Moolhuizen continued for 48,000 and Vergeer shoved for 222,000 to get called by Moolhuizen with {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

Vergeer only had {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} and the {3-Spades} turn was of no help, but the {8-Hearts} hit on the river to let Moolhuizen jump out of his chair in disgust.

Hand-For-Hand Mode Activated

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Stefanie Claes
Stefanie Claes

Erik Loschan has eliminated Pieter Ram and Stefanie Claes in a row.

First the German won with {A-}{K-} against the {A-}{8-} of Ram and then called the shove of Claes for 33,000 in the big blind with {J-}{7-}. Claes had {A-}{J-} but a seven appeared on the river.

This has reduced the field to 37 and only 36 will make the money, hand-for-hand mode starts momentarily.

Sybrandi Takes the Lead

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Hans Sybrandi
Hans Sybrandi

Micael Emanuelsson and Hans Sybrandi battled in a big pot with a {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-} flop where the Dutchman got his stack in with {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Emanuelsson had pushed with {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the higher flush draw, but Sybrandi found a six on the turn to double up in the previous level still.

Then, Sybrandi also got three streets of value out of his {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} on a board of {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and jumped into the lead.
