Flush Under Flush

Level 25 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Short stack Florian Ferroni picked up a few chips and then a big pot emerged between Karl Stark in the small blind and Julien Sitbon in the big blind. Stark had raised to 200,000 with the {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and got called by Sitbon with {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

On the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop Stark continued for 205,000 and received a call before the Swede check-called two streets of value worth 225,000 on the {K-Diamonds} turn and 455,000 on the {6-Clubs} river.

It was the first significant pot that Stark lost all day long.

Sitbon Doubles Through

Level 25 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Karl Stark opened to 180,000 from the button with {10-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Julien Sitbon moved all in from the small blind for 1,445,000. Florian Ferroni peeked at his cards and then moved all in himself to quickly get Stark out of the way.

Ferroni: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Sitbon: {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}

The {2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{J-Hearts} flop partially improved Sitbon's hand and the {6-Hearts} turn now gave him even more outs. The dealer burned and turned the {J-Diamonds} river and Ferroni was cut down to less than 10 big blinds.

David Hefner Eliminated in 4th Place (€27,700)

Level 24 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
David Hefner
David Hefner

Florian Ferroni opened to 120,000 from the button with the {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Karl Stark three-bet to 330,000 from one seat over in the small blind. The action then reached David Hefner and he gave it some thought before moving his 1.36 million chips into the middle of the table.

Ferroni mucked and Stark asked with a rather shy : "How much is it?" After around one minute he announced the call and both players turned over their cards:

Stark: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Hefner: {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The board {K-Spades}{A-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Spades} was symbolic for the incredible run-good of the Swede, who busted yet another opponent and moved up to more than 9 million chips - there are just 12,330,000 chips in play.

Kings for Stark

Level 24 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

Julien Sitbon was getting somewhat pushed around lately and especially Karl Stark as chip leader had been putting a lot of pressure on all opponents as well. Sitbon then found the {A-Spades}{9-Spades} and opened to 120,000 on the button, Stark three-bet to 320,000 in the big blind with {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

On the {Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop, Stark continued for 275,000 and Sitbon didn't make a move.

Joachim Kleiven Eliminated in 5th Place (€20,800)

Level 24 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
Joachim Kleiven
Joachim Kleiven

Joachim Kleiven had just previously shoved for 635,000 with the {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} without getting called and was then in the big blind with 12 big blinds left. Florian Ferroni had min-raised to 120,000 and Kleiven shoved, receiving a snap call by the Frenchman.

Kleiven: {Q-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Ferroni: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

The {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop was no good for the Norwegian and he was drawing dead after the {K-Clubs} turn. A meaningless {6-Hearts} appeared on the river and Kleiven headed to the payout desk in order to collect €20,800 for his efforts.

Sitbon's Slowplay Fires Back

Level 24 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

It's not 100% certain whether or not the wrong chip count was displayed for David Hefner earlier, but the screens just showed new counts after a slow play of Julien Sitbon had gone wrong.

Sitbon had raised to 130,000 from the button and just called the 360,000-squeeze of chip leader Karl Stark in the big blind with {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. Stark was behind with the {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and both checked down the {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop and the {8-Spades} turn.

Stark then bet the {10-Hearts} river and Sitbon elected to fold.

Sneaky Sitbon

Level 24 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

David Hefner opened to 135,000 from the button with the {J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Julien Sitbon just flat-called out of the small blind with the {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. Florian Ferroni stuck around in the big blind with the {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Sitbon's check-raise on the {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop did the trick.

Hefner had made a continuation bet worth 170,000 but mucked to the 460,000 squeeze, Ferroni didn't feel like chasing the gutshot either.
