Tholen Busto

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

Dimitri Tholen has been eliminated from the tournament. He walked into the media room just now, telling us the details of his last hands with a wry smile.

He shoved his last 18 big blinds in from early position holding {A-}{Q-}. A player behind him looked him up holding {A-}{K-} and that would be the end of it. Tholen had some hope of a split pot after two aces hit the board giving both players trips, but the {K-} that came ended it all for the man from The Netherlands.

Tholen looked determent to qualify for a Unibet Open again, so we just might see him in Glasgow in a couple of months.

237 Players Today?

Level 5 : 200/400, 75 ante

The registration is closed for some time now, but there's no official pay-outs available yet, the organization is still calculating everything. It appears though that there are exactly as many players this year, as there were last year. Tournament director John Scanlon the total amount of entries is 404, the same as last year when Frederik Jensen won it. With 167 players on Day 1a, that would mean 237 players registered today. The clock however displays 236 players for Day 1b, so we'll have to wait a bit longer for confirmation on all these numbers.

Tholen Getting Impatient

Level 5 : 200/400, 75 ante

Dimitri Tholen only has about 10,000 left from his 30,000 starting stack.

The experienced Dutch player told us he didn't get much going so far today. He was seated at an über aggressive table with Henrik Hecklen and Soren Blanner where every time he opened, at least six other were fighting to get the chips.

Tholen didn't receive many hands yet, and told us he was waiting for a big hand and just go with it. He still has over 25 big blinds left, so there is still some time Dimitri!

Aberg Cracks Aces

Level 5 : 200/400, 75 ante
Rikard Aberg
Rikard Aberg

In the last hand before the break, Rikard Aberg almost doubled up.

He opened with {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} from middle position and the player on the button made the call. The big blind squeezed to 1,900 and Aberg and the button made the call.

{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{J-Clubs} on the flop and the big blind bet 2,300. Aberg made the call, the button folded. The turn was the {K-Spades} and the big blind now bet 5,100. Aberg again called and spiked the {Q-Hearts} on the river.

The big blind checked and Aberg bet 6,600. Well into the break now, the big blind thought for several minutes before calling. Aberg showed {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and took it down, the big blind said he had aces.
