Incredible Rundown Launches Cordeiro

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

Over at table 13, an incredible hand took place in which three players got eliminated at the same time! Kelly Saxby and Nam Van Catzel filled us in on the details, which left Valdir Cordeiro Dos Santos as the sole survivor.

According to Saxby and Van Catzel, Cordeiro had opened and two players had called, including Alex Zeligman. Behind Zeligman, a player shoved all in for 11,000. Cordeiro reshoved all in for 60,000, which covered the remaining two players.

Little did Cordeiro expect that both players would snap-call the shove! Zeligman, as the final caller, held {A-}{A-}. The first all in player held {10-}{10-}, Cordeiro tabled {A-}{Q-} and the second all in player was in poor shape with his {Q-}{Q-}.

The {K-}{5-}{4-} flop was as innocuous as could be, but the {J-} on the turn opened up a gutshot straight draw for Cordeiro to eliminate all others. Sure enough, the {10-} landed on the river, sending everyone in a frenzy. Cordeiro added the three stacks to his own and is now at 130,000.

Benger and Kassouf Sit Down

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante
Will Kassouf
Will Kassouf

Both Griffin Benger and Will Kassouf have taken their respective seats in this tournament. During last years World Series of Poker Main Event, Benger and Kassouf verbally clashed in a hand that became an instant classic.

Benger ended up eliminating Kassouf with aces versus kings, but not before calling out the British solicitor on his antics. It was a hand that polarised the poker community and gave the pundits much to talk about.

Another confrontation isn't expected yet, as the two couldn't be further removed from each other. Kassouf is sitting at the far table in the Club Room, while Benger is on the other side in the main area.

Kassouf is looking for his first Unibet Open cash, Benger made the final table last year in Malta where he finished 8th for €8,550.

Saxby Sees It Through

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Holding {J-Clubs}{J-Spades} in a three-bet pot, Kelly Saxby was on the button and saw {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds} appear on the flop. Two other players checked, Saxby bet 3,200 and one player called. Both players checked the {4-Diamonds} on the turn.

On the {8-Spades} river, Saxby's opponent quickly led out 7,300. Saxby gave it some thought, then flicked in one chip to indicate a call. Her opponent showed {8-Clubs}{9-Spades} for a pair of eights and Saxby took it down.
