"Doke" and Simpson Ready To Shine

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante
Ian Simpson
Ian Simpson

Brand-new Unibet Poker Ambassadors Ian Simpson and Dara "Doke" O'Kearney are ready to shine here on Day 1b. Together with David Lappin, the Irish trio recently signed on to represent the Unibet brand and fit into Unibet Poker's ethos of being a fun and friendly place to play poker.

Simpson shot to fame in 2013 when he topped a field of 505 entries in the Irish Open Main Event, a result that netted him €265,000 and ended on one knee with a proposal to his girlfriend. Later that year, Simpson was the runner-up in the UKIPT London Main Event and banked an additional £106,869.

O’Kearney, affectionately known as “Doke,” has traveled the globe playing in live poker events. O’Kearney is also a superb writer and keeps an excellent poker blog where he pens his thoughts about all things poker and more. Lappin hasn't taken his seat yet, but will show up later during the day.

Peltola Triples Up, Vansteenkiste Short

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

After hefty action on a {3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{J-Hearts} flop, three players got their stacks in the middle. When the dust was settled, the following hands appeared:

Elsje Vansteenkiste: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Bogdan Petrascu: {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Lassi Peltola: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

Petrascu covered both players and could scoop it all up with a four or a heart. The {3-Diamonds} on the turn paired the board, instantly leaving Petrascu drawing dead for the main pot. Vansteenkiste was looking for the case ace, but the {8-Clubs} river wasn't the one.

Peltola played 24,650 in total and tripled up. Vansteenkiste won the small side pot, which left her with a stack of 5,500. After paying off both players Petrascu was left with 16,000.

Rubiogamito Takes From Kelleher

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

In the Club Room of the casino, a few tables are also filled to accommodate all the players. On one of the tables the board read {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and action was on Jose Rubiogamito. The British player bet 3,500, Vera Kelleher check-raised to 10,000 and Rubiogamito called. Both players checked the {3-Clubs} on the river.

Kelleher showed {K-Spades}{10-Hearts} for top two pair, Rubiogamito flipped open {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a flush and took down the pot.

At the same table is brand-new Unibet Ambassador David Lappin, who's up to 33,000 in the early stages.
