At noon local time, cards are back in the air for the second of two starting days at the 2018 Unibet Open Malta Main Event. 88 players showed up yesterday for Day 1a and that number is expected to be doubled on the second starting day.

28 players survived Day 1a, with Charly Grenet in pole position after bagging 197.400. The 1b players get 30,000 in chips and ten levels of 60 minutes each to try and top that amount. Breaks are scheduled after every two levels, with a 60-minute dinner break scheduled after level 6. Late registration for Day 1b, and the event, will close at the start at level 7. The tournament is in a classic freezeout format; all players will get only one bullet to work with.

Most of the Unibet Ambassadors and Esporters will take their seat today, including Dara "Doke" O'Kearney, David Lappin, Ian Simpson, Rauno "Estonian Jesus" Tahvonen, Kevin "Papaplatte" Teller, Alan "hotted89" Widmann, Lisa "STPeach" Vannatta, Jordy "MojoOnPC" Janssens and Esports Battle Royale IX winner Scott "Sco" McMillan. Former Unibet Open Malta champion Mateusz Moolhuizen will also take his seat on Day 1b, as will Unibet Ambassador Dan Murariu. Both are looking to become the first player to ever win three Unibet Opens.
