Sardal Beats Two Premium Pairs

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

With around 19,000 in the middle to the {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} river, Filip Holmqvist and Jan Kusters checked their option. Tal Sardal then bet 5,000 and Holmqvist tank-called after more than two minutes. Kusters dropped back into his chair with sheer disgust and eventually opted to call as well.

Sardal exposed the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a straight while Holmqvist revealed his {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for an overpair. Somehow, Kusters also opted to show his {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} as well and then mentioned he should have folded because Holmqvist raised preflop. "You don't really beat anything," Martin Paap concluded as table neighbour Kusters discussed the hand with him.

David Hu
David Hu

On the river of a heads-up pot between David Hu and Michael Perez Refojo, the board showed {q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Hu bet 4,000 and his opponent from Spain tossed in a single yellow T-1,000 chip for the call. Hu tabled the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a rivered set and that won the pot.

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Robert Cabral
Robert Cabral

Apostol Beg check-called a bet by Robert Cabral on the {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs} turn and checked the {a-Diamonds} on the river. Cabral now bet 5,100 and Beg pondered about his decision for a short while, staring at his opponent. The call then followed and Cabral tabled the {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a missed flush draw, which Beg had beat with the {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Dara O'Kearney sat down next to beg right after and the table also features another early big stack in Kalle Parkkinen.

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Madis Ormisson
Madis Ormisson

Madis Ormisson raised it up in the hijack and Morten Froland three-bet to 1,500 on the button. Ormisson then pushed all-in for the 12,000 he had behind and Froland called, having just entered very recently.

Madis Ormisson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Morten Froland: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, providing both overcards to keep Ormisson in contention.

Longhe Loses a Bunch to Huiberts

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Alexis Longhe limped in and then called a raise to 900 by Paul Huiberts out of the blinds as the duo went to a flop of {j-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Huiberts continued for 600 and Longhe raised to 2,000 in order to pick up a call. On the {6-Clubs} turn, both checked and Huiberts led the {4-Clubs} river for 4,500.

Longhe eventually called and sighed when Huiberts flipped over the {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, which had his {j-Hearts}{9-Spades} beat thanks to the kicker advantage.

"A Lot of Heart" for Op De Woerd

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Frank Op de Woerd
Frank Op de Woerd

In a single-raised four-way pot the {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop was checked and Frank Op de Woerd then took a stab on the {8-Hearts} turn by betting 1,000 out of the small blind. He earned one fold but Julian Freund called, while Nicky Roeg also let go.

"It's good that you have a lot of heart, just one heart but very high," Roeg joked and then added in a very serious tone to the dealer "I am not talking about the hand because that is not allowed!" Op de Woerd checked the {4-Diamonds} river and then folded when Freund bet 1,300.

Sergio Benso
Sergio Benso

Opening Event finalist Ronnie Espensen three-bet small and then called a reraise to 3,000 by Sergio Benso while Jaroslaw Tomasiuk also stuck around. The trio headed to the {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop on which Benso bet 2,300. Only Espensen called and Benso checked the {4-Hearts} turn, prompting a bet worth 7,200 by Espensen and his own call.

The {3-Hearts} on the river was checked and a visibly relieved Benso raked in the pot with the {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

Nyholm Among the Early Big Stacks

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Finland's Joona Nyholm has already gained nearly 50% in profit during the first level and some to become one of the early big stacks in the Day 1b field. The latest showdown hand saw him add even more chips when he was paid off by Bas Silvius on the {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} river, as the Dutchman could not beat his {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a queen-high straight.

Beg Takes From Cabral

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Heads-up to the {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Spades} turn, Apostol Beg checked his option and then faced a bet worth 2,100 by Robert Cabral which he opted to call. The {4-Spades} on the river was checked through and Beg glanced at the dealer if he was supposed to show first. That was indeed the case as he rolled over the {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for queens and fours, while Cabral briefly exposed his {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} while shaking the head,
