Thin Value From Liimatta

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante
Joni Liimatta
Joni Liimatta

On the tail end of a heads-up pot between Joni Liimatta and Adrian Ionescu, the board showed {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Liimatta bet 2,100 into 5,500 for Ionescu to call and revealed the {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for the top pair. That was good enough to win the pot and Liimatta pulled narrowly ahead of Ionescu on the leaderboard.

Adriaans Chips Up Against Kuhlman

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

Rene Kuhlman and Egi Adriaans created a pot of 16,500 beyond the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} turn and it was the former who checked the {a-Clubs} on the river. Adriaans knuckled it back and Kuhlman revealed the {10-Spades}{7-Spades} for a pair of tens and missed flush draw.

However, that was no good as Adriaans had that beat with the {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for rivered aces up. The pot moved Adriaans well ahead of Kuhlman, who dipped back just below the starting stack.

Bernett Chips Up in Showdown

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

On the tail end of a heads-up pot between Lennart Bernett and Kalle Parkkinen, the board showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Bernett check-called a bet worth 2,200 and Parkkinen tabled the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a flush with the eight.

Bernett had that pipped by one notch with the {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and dragged in the pot. Only a few minutes later, the German was on the move as he was balanced to another table.

Recent Eliminations

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

Irish poker pro Daragh Davey chipped up very quickly after entering the field only to then see his stack reduced to fumes. Prior to the second break, he was spotted on the way out and joined several notables on the rail early on. Martin Paap and Henri Kasper were also among the casualties in level four as well.

Norling Felted by Van Dijk

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

In a three-bet pot to the {j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop, Alf Norling opted to jam his stack of 12,300 into the middle on the feature table and was looked up by Bart van Dijk with the slightly superior stack.

Alf Norling: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Bart van Dijk: {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}

The {8-Hearts} turn and {3-Diamonds} river were both blanks to spell the end for Norling on Day 1b.

Phung Wins Three-Way Pot Without Showdown

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Some 11,000 were in the middle to the {k-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop on which Helmut Phung in the big blind, Gerben Bos from under the gun and Angela Jordison on the button all checked. Phung bet the {5-Diamonds} turn for 4,200 and Jordison was the only caller.

The {3-Spades} river fell on the river and Phung bet another 3,000 with a shorter stack behind. Jordison mulled it over for a while and opted to get out of the way.

Budai Gets Value From Reard

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Aurelie Reard
Aurelie Reard

On a completed board of {j-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Aurelie Reard checked and Alexandru Budai bet 5,200 into a pot of around 14,000. Reard flicked in a single chip for the call and Budai tabled the {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for kings and jacks to win the pot.

Reard mucked her cards with some frustration, then picked them up again and exposed the {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

"Why you don't raise preflop this time? You always do ..." Reard sighed and Budai replied with a simple "not this time."
