USDO Marrakech
USDO Marrakech

Day 2 of the UDSO Marrakech Main Event at Casino de Marrakech is set to begin at 1 p.m. local time, with the surviving 233 players from the four Day 1 flights returning to battle for a place in the final stages.

The record-breaking field of 937 entries has generated a prize pool of 4,768,000 MAD (approx. €449,871), and today’s mission will be to burst the money bubble and play down until only 16 players remain.

Play resumes at Level 12 with blinds at 1,000/2,500 and a 2,500 big blind ante.

Leading the way is Sebastien Guinand, who bagged a towering 1,208,000 after a huge pot against pocket aces late on Day 1c. Local hopes will be carried by Abdou Zizi and Mehdi Senhaji, who sit second and third in the counts, while a strong French contingent fills out much of the top ten.

Day 1a opened the action with 210 players, with 52 advancing. Thierry Oldak bagged best from the opening flight and returns for Day 2 fourth in the overall chip counts.

Day 1b then welcomed 256 players, with 63 making it through. Mustapha Berraho finished as the top stack of the flight to give Morocco another strong contender heading into the next stage.

Day 1c and 1d brought in 470 entries, sending 118 players forward. That late surge helped push the total field to 936, the largest Main Event in UDSO Marrakech history.

Guinand Power Jams

Sebastien Guinand
Sebastien Guinand

A pot of 270,000 had brewed in a blind on blind battle between Benjamin Hammann and chip leader Sebastien Guinand.

Benjamin Hammann mulled briefly, before checking his option on the 105KA2 board. Hammann had around 400,000 behind and Guinand put him to the test for all of his chips.

Hammann tanked for ages, with clock eventually being called. He couldn't make a decision and his hand was ruled dead.

Guinand won his chip leading stack with pocket jacks last night, flopping a set and getting max value with pocket jacks. This time around, he turned his JJ into a massive bluff, which was met with congratulations from the table.
