Mairesse Can't Believe It, Foucault Chip Leading
Action was picked up with post-flop fireworks taking place.
Three players had contributed to the pot of 9,000, and the 9♠7♣5♠ flop was dealt. Small blind Jerome Mairesse checked, and David Foucault did the same from late position. Button player Karem Laouini then slid 8,000 in the middle, and Mairesse check-raised to 24,000. Foucault called the raise, but Laouini did not.
The 3♦ turn didn't see Mairesse slow down, as he fired out another bet, this time slighty downsizing to 23,500. Foucault called again to see the A♠ river.
Mairesse picked up his final 40,000 in chips, and moved them forwards. Before they even touched the felt, Foucault had already slammed down a call, beating his opponent into the pot, and tabling J♠8♠ for a flush.
Mairesse's flopped set had been bested, as his 7♦7♠ hit the muck. He had some very choice words for his opponent, the gist being that he had gotten very lucky.
"Any ten, any five, any spade" responded Foucault.
