Logan Le Floch opened up the action with a raise to 3,000 under the gun. Axel Raphalen, sat to his left, flatted the bet, before Valter Faria made it 12,000 to go from late position. Cutoff player Jean-Michel Vella cold-called, Le Floch folded, and Raphalen liked his price.
The 7♦A♥8♠ flop checked to Faria, and he carried on with a bet of 18,000. Only Vella called. He then beat Faria into the pot after he shoved the 4♣ turn for 34,000 effective.
Jean-Michel Vella: 8♦8♣
Valter Faria: A♠K♦
As if having his opponent drawing dead wasn't enough, Vella improved to quads on the 8♥ river. "I've waited for it," he said to the table.
"That's the third time quads have hit on this table," noted another player.
