Hammann Holds Triple Nearest Stack as Final Table is Set

The penultimate day of action in the Unibet Open Main Event has just come to a halt, and what a day of action it was! Of the 853 total entries in to the competition, just 62 took their seats in Day 3, but that number has been decimated, and just nine now remain.

Those nine represent the event’s final table, and it’s Benjamin Hammann who sits way out in front with an absolutely monstrous chip lead. He ended up bagging a whopping 12,475,000, which is over 124 big blinds when Day 4 gets underway.

His closest competitor, Mounim Kaddouri, has only slightly more than a third of Hammann’s stack, as his 4,950,000 is good for second place in the standings. Rounding out the Podium is Tunisianking, who had a hot spell of two-outering aces before picking them up himself, and he will be coming back to 4,675,000.

Day 4 will see a multitude of nations represented. Abdullah Akbarpoor, who flies the Turkish flag, sits in fourth with a stack of 4,450,000. He scored the final elimination of the day, which sent Albert Solal (10th - 125,000) MAD) home, and confirmed the final table. Dutch grinder Moneyhunter ended the day with 3,900,000, after making a big call for his tournament life, and Spanish player hammer picked up a double right at the death to return with 1,975,000.

The nine finalists will of course be going home with a share of the 8,845,000 MAD prize pool that was generated here at Casino de Marrakech, and each one has locked up a minimum payout of 150,000 MAD.
That being said, any prize that isn’t the 1,500,000 reserved for first place will certainly come with a twinge of disappointment, as that is what’s up for grabs alongside the shiny winner’s trophy, and Unibet Open belt.

Day 3 was a bloody one, as eliminations came thick and fast. Aitor Cruz (62nd - 33,000 MAD), who burst the bubble on day 2, was first to go, and was joined by Hugues Girard (56th - 33,000 MAD), Mario Boos (55th - 36,500 MAD), and Ali Mechiche (46th - 40,500 MAD) shortly after.

Day 1d chip leader Hakim Hadj Belgacem (32nd - 45,500 MAD) and Day 1a chip leader Picachu (31st - 51,500 MAD) were eliminated in very quick succession, and start of day chip leader Truquens (23rd - 60,000 MAD) suffered a brutal two-outer blind on blind to end his tournament instantly after the three table redraw.

As play got closer to the FT, Romain Lewis (21st - 60,000 MAD), Bruno Soutavong (17th - 72,000 MAD), Angela Rogan (13th - 104,000 MAD) and Pascal Groshens (11th - 125,000 MAD) were all casualties.

The streamed final table begins at 4:00 p.m. local time, with blinds resuming at 50,000/100,000/100,000, and 52 minutes left on the clock in Level 29. Day 4 will play until a winner has been crowned.
