Day 2 Started

The Final Six Return for Day 2 of Event #1: $10,000 No Limit Hold'em

2018 US Poker Open
2018 US Poker Open

The final six players will return to the Aria Resort and Casino for Day 2 of Event #1: $10,000 No Limit Hold'em. Leading the charge is high-stakes poker pro, Justin Bonomo, with 1,610,000 chips.

Bonomo moved throughout the opening day with an above-average stack until he played a big hand with chip leader, Andy Park. Bonomo took over the lead when his pocket kings held up against Park's pocket sevens. From then, Bonomo slowly continued to build his stack until the day was complete with just six players remaining.

Among those six players are other high-roller regulars, Stephen Chidwick (665,000) and David Peters (623,000). They will come into the day as the two short stacks but are still around 40 big blinds deep. There will be plenty of time for the two of them to mount a comeback as they look to capture the first of eight events of the US Poker Open.

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Hand#1: Stephen Chidwick limped in from the small blind and Boutros Nadim raised to 39,000 out of the big blind. Chidwick called and the flop came {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Spades}. Hand #2: The action folded to Nadim who just called from the small blind with {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Sam Soverel checked his option with {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The flop came {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Nadim led out for 24,000. Soverel stuck around with his pair of sevens and the {j-Diamonds} landed on the turn. Hands #3-7: Bullets for Soverel

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Hand #3: Action folded to Sam Soverel in the small blind and he opted to limp with {10-Spades}{7-Spades}. Justin Young checked his {Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and they went on the {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop. Soverel led out 22,000 and that was just enough to claim the pot.

Hand #4: Hijack Stephen Chidwick raised to 35,000 with {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds} but Soverel woke up with {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} on the button. Soverel thee-bet to 108,000 and Chidwick released his hand.

Hand #5: Boutros Nadim opened the action preflop and Justin Bonomo defended his big blind with {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The flop fell {J-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Nadim bumped the price to 80,000, forcing a fold from Bonomo.

Hand #6: Soverel raised to 33,000 with {K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} from the hijack and his left-hand opponent Justin Young flatted his {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Both players checked the flop of {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Spades} as well as the {6-Spades} turn. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Soverel checked one more time. Young bet 45,000, earning a call from Soverel who saw Young's runner-runner straight in the showdown.

Hand #7: Young opened to 35,000 with {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and scooped the pot without contest.

Hands #8-12: Three In-a-Row for Chidwick

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Hand #8: Stephen Chidwick raised to 35,000 on the button with {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Boutros Nadim three-bet to 84,000 out of the small blind with {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Chidwick shipped all in for 551,000 and Nadim was sent into the tank. He eventually found the correct fold and Chidwick raked in the pot.

Hand #9: Chidwick opened to 35,000 from the cutoff with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} but could not get any action.

Hand #10: Chidwick opened to 35,000 for the third hand in a row with {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and David Peters defended his big blind with {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. The flop fell {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Peters checked to Chidwick who continued for 31,000. Peters called with middle pair and the {5-Diamonds} hit the turn. Both players checked to the {q-Diamonds} on the river and Peters checked one more time. Chidwick tossed in a bet of 125,000 with top pair and Peters laid his hand down.

Hand #11: David Peters limped in from the small blind with {k-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Justin Bonomo raised it up to 55,000 in the big blind with {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Peters came along for the ride to the flop of {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Spades}. Peters check-called a bet of 45,000 from Bonomo and the {j-Diamonds} landed on the turn. That slowed the action with a couple of checks and the {4-Diamonds} completed the board. Peters checked again and Bonomo fired 110,000 with the best hand. Peters made the fold again and Bonomo earned himself the pot.

Hand #12: Bonomo called from the small blind with {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Chidwick checked his option holding {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Bonomo led out for 16,000. Chidwick called with bottom pair and the {2-Spades} fell on the turn. Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Hand #13: From the button, Justin Bonomo raised to 40,000 with {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Small blind Stephen Chidwick decided to three-bet, making it 145,000 to go with {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Chidwick found no resistance and raked in the pot.

Hand #14: In the battle of blinds, Boutros Nadim raised to 40,000 with {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Sam Soverel defended {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} in position. The {5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop favoured Nadim who continued for an unclear amount. Soverel gave it a brief thought before laying his hand down.

Hand #15: Justin Bonomo raised to 45,000 from the hijack with {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and Sam Soverel called from the small blind with {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}. The flop came {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and both players checked to the {3-Spades} on the turn. Soverel led out for 50,000 and Bonomo let his hand go.

Hand #16: Soverel raised to 45,000 on the button with {8-Spades}{5-Hearts} and David Peters called from the big blind with {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}. The flop came {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Peters checked to Soverel who bet 50,000 with his two pair. Peters called and then checked again on the {k-Clubs} turn card. Soverel fired another 90,000 and that was good enough to earn him the pot.

Hand #17: Stephen Chidwick opened to 45,000 from under the gun with {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and Justin Bonomo called from the big blind with {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}. The flop came {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and both players checked to the {a-Hearts} on the turn. Bonomo checked again, afraid of the ace and Chidwick sensed an opportunity to bet 120,000. Bonomo called with his pair of nines and the {8-Clubs} rolled off on the river. Bonomo checked for the third time and Chidwick checked behind, allowing Bonomo to win the pot.

Hand #18: Justin Young opened to 45,000 from the hijack with {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Justin Bonomo three-bet to 175,000 out of the small blind with {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Young mucked his cards and Bonomo earned another pot.

Hand #19: David Peters shoved all in for 275,000 in the cutoff with {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and Stephen Chidwick moved all in over the top with {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}. Peters was in a dominating position to double up and the {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop was a safe one for Peters. The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and Chidwick was left drawing to a jack. The river landed the {9-Spades} and Peters got a full double up.
