Peters Tangles with Mateos

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante
David Peters
David Peters

The action folded around to David Peters who limped in from the small blind. Adrian Mateos raised to 12,000 in the big blind and Peters called. The flop came {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Peters check-called a bet of 9,000 from Mateos.

The {8-Spades} paired the board on the turn and Peters led out for 12,000. Mateos called and the {k-Diamonds} landed on the river. Peters shoved all in for 80,000 and Mateos was sent to the tank. After going through two time extensions, Mateos finally made the call and Peters delivered the bad news. He rolled over {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for a full house and Mateos was left with a look of annoyance. He would go on to bust the next hand.

Negreanu Shows the Key Card

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 3,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

There was already around 50,000 in the middle and the Tom Marchese led out for 28,000 from the big blind on a board reading {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Daniel Negreanu called on the button and the {10-Diamonds} completed the board. Marchese fired another 42,000 and Negreanu felt as if he was paying off another big hand. He played with his chips and said, "I'm calling anyway, no sense in wasting time," as he put his chips in the pot. Marchese tossed his cards to the muck and Negreanu flashed the {j-Hearts} as his "key card".

Here is a look at some other chip counts around the room with Keith Tilston and Justin Bonomo leading the way.

Justin vs justin

Level 9 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Bryn Kenney opened to 9,000 on the button and Justin Bonomo three-bet to 38,000 out of the small blind. Justin Young was in the big blind and quickly shipped all in for 159,000. Kenney's cards quickly hit the muck and Bonomo did some quick math in his head before calling.

Justin Young: {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Justin Bonomo: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The flop came {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Young took a stranglehold on the hand with three eights. The {7-Clubs} on the turn meant Bonomo was drawing dead to the {10-Hearts} on the river.

Schindler Puts Koon to the Test

Level 9 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Jason Koon opened to 9,000 from under the gun and Anthony Zinno called in the small blind. Jake Schindler was in the big blind re-raised to 40,000. Koon called while Zinno mucked his hand.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Schindler led out for 18,000. Koon called and the {3-Spades} landed on the turn. Schindler pushed in a stack of chips, enough to cover the 70,000 Koon had remaining in front of him. Koon thought for a bit, visibly in distress, and used up one of his time extensions before flying his cards into the muck.

Justin Young raised to 15,000 in the cutoff and Keith Tilston three-bet to 45,000 out of the small blind. Rainer Kempe asked for a count in the big blind but elected to fold. With the action back on Young, he shoved all in for 225,500. It was met by a quick call from Tilston and the cards were tabled.

Justin Young: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Keith Tilston: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The flop and turn looked good for Tilston as the board read {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} with one card to come. Young was halfway out of his seat when the {k-Hearts} landed on the river. Young scored a big double up to keep his tournament hopes alive.
