Riess Takes Two from Peters

Level 13 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

On a flop reading {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, Ryan Riess led out for 15,000 from under the gun. David Peters raised to 53,000 on the button and Riess sent the action back with a re-raise to 115,000. Peters dispatched of his cards and Riess raked in the pot.

Just two hands later, Peters opened to 18,000 from under the gun and Riess three-bet to 69,000 from the small blind. Dan Smith folded his big blind and Peters called to go heads-up to a flop of {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

Riess led out for 45,000 and Peters stuck around to see the {7-Diamonds} on the turn. Both players checked and the {3-Clubs} completed the board. Riess checked again and Peters announced a bet of 140,000. Riess wasted no time to call and Peters tabled {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} for just king-high. Riess turned over {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a pair of jacks to scoop another pot.

Reilly Not Rewarded for a Good Call

Level 13 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Tim Reilly
Tim Reilly

Tim Reilly raised to 18,000 on the button and was called by Cary Katz in the small blind. Ben Tollerene was in the big blind and jammed all in for 265,000. This was the second time in as many orbits that Tollerene shoved on Reilly's open, and this time Reilly took a stand and made the call. Katz quickly got out of the way as the two remaining hands were tabled.

Ben Tollerene: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Tim Reilly: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Reilly made a good call but it quickly turned sour as the flop came {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, giving Tollerene a pair of tens. The {4-Spades} on the turn and the {8-Diamonds} on the river were no help to Reilly as he was sent to the rail.

Cooler Central

Level 12 : 3,500/7,000, 7,000 ante

Brent Hanks opened to 15,000 from the cutoff and was called by Isaac Haxton on the button and Seth Davies in the big blind. The flop fell {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} and the action checked around to the {k-Spades} on the turn.

Davies checked again and Hanks fired out a bet of 30,000. Haxton jammed all in on the button and Davies quickly folded. Hanks called just as fast and Haxton saw the bad news.

Brent Hanks: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Isaac Haxton: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Both players turned a straight, but Hanks held the better one. Haxton was left drawing to a chop but the {6-Hearts} on the river wasn't going to cut it. Haxton sent his chips to Hanks and joined his friend, Stephen Chidwick, on the rail.

Chidwick Ousted

Level 12 : 3,500/7,000, 7,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Stephen Chidwick was just seen leaving his seat and David Peters appears to be the one racking up his chips. Chidwick was coming off back-to-back wins in the US Poker Open but was unable to make three in a row. He will surely be back tomorrow for Event #6 after a well deserved good night's sleep.

Smith Hits the Gin River Card

Level 12 : 3,500/7,000, 7,000 ante

The board read {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Dan Smith led out for 35,000 from the cutoff. David Peters was on the button and made the call as the {6-Spades} peeled off on the river.

Smith shipped all in for 71,000 and Peters instantly called, tabling {a-Spades}{4-Spades} for the nut flush. Smith, however, rivered a full house with {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and double up through Peters.

Jake the Snake Rattles Mateos' Cage

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Jake Schindler opened to 14,000 from under the gun and Adrian Mateos defended his big blind. The flop came {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Mateos check-called a bet of 12,000 from Schindler.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {4-Clubs} on the river. Mateos led out for 18,000 and Schindler raised to 90,000. Mateos used a time extension and then eventually mucked his cards. The two players exchanged some words and laughs after the hand but Mateos still felt unsure about his fold.
