147 Players Remaining

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With the dinner break looming the Day 1c field is down to 147 or a little more than one-third of the original 428 players. Between 20 to 25 percent of the field is expected to survive until tomorrow to compete with the 38 players (out of 179) to make it from Day 1a and the 60 (out of 294) to make it from Day 1b.

Always Interesting at the Pool

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Many of those not playing can be found throughout the day being entertained at the pool. We imagine starting tomorrow the pool will get a bit busier with no more players able to re-enter.

Baumann Booming

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
Gaëlle Baumann
Gaëlle Baumann

Gaëlle Baumann is having a much better Day 1c than Day 1b and is up to 50,000 chips. In a recent hand from the button Baumann called a raise from the cut-off by Mathieu Papineau and the small blind came along for the ride.

The action was checked to Baumann on a flop of {Q-}{8-}{3-} which presented a flush-draw. She bet, the player from the small blind folded and Papineau called. The {6-} on the turn created a second flush draw. The action was checked to Baumann who bet 5,000. Instead of calling, her opponent check-raised. She then declared all-in and Papineau folded handing a 25,000 pot to Baumann.

Pierre Calamusa's Stack Takes a Small Dent

Cameras are constantly around Team Winamax pro Pierre Calamusa. In a recent hand, he just called an all-in from his opponent Hakim Hadj of 40,000 chips with {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} on a [4x9x6] flop. His reads have been good most of the day, but not this time as Hadj held {Q-}{Q-Clubs}. The {3-} on the turn and the {8-} on the river completed the board sending a big pot to his opponent. Calamusa is still holding strong with a big stack of 5,000-denominated blue chips and a stack of 130,000 chips.

Aurélie Quélain Eliminated

Aurélie Quélain

While there appear to be a handful of Team Winamax still in contention, Aurélie Quélain will not join the group in Day 2.

With the pot at around 10,000 chips, Aurélie Quélain went all-in for 20,000 chips on a flop of {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} with {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and her opponent quickly called with {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Top pair proved to be no good, as the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} completed the board sending Quélain to the rail.
