Leo Margets
Leo Margets

Leo Margets opened to 8,500 from the small blind and the big blind called.

The flop came {a-}{k-}{5-} and Margets continued for 8,000. Her opponent raised to 21,000 and Margets called.

The Winamax Team Pro then checked the {7-} turn and her opponent bet 15,000. Margets then check-raised all in for 45,000 and her opponent called.

Leo Margets: {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-}{5-}

The river was a brick, and Margets was coolered out of the Main Event.

Late Registration Closes

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Late registration and re-entry for the Winamax Poker Open Dublin Main Event Day 1a is over, with 183 total entries of the course of 15 levels so far today.

It's difficult to compare to last year's Day 1a, as this year's tournament comes with an extra day of registration. It will be interesting, therefore, to see whether or not Day 1a and 1b combined surpass the 373 entries from Day 1a alone last year. On the basis of today, it shan't be difficult.

Potenza Scores Big Doubles Through Calamusa

Level 15 : 1,200/2,500, 2,500 ante

On a {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop, big stacks Patrick Clarke and Pierre Calamusa checked to Dominique Potenza who moved all in for 89,000 into a pot of nowhere near that much.

Clarke gave it some thought before Calamusa called.

"Ace-king?" asked Potenza in French as Calamusa turned over {k-Spades}{10-Spades}

Potenza turned over {q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and continued on a tirade against Calamusa for calling 80,000 with king-ten. The {3-Spades}{j-Clubs} run out didn't change things as Potenza doubled his 89,400 stack.

"I had {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}," said Clarke, "Pair and a flush draw. If [Calamusa] wasn't there I'd probably have called."

Recent Eliminations

Level 15 : 1,200/2,500, 2,500 ante

Despite his recent double up, Sonny Franco has been eliminated. Joining him is Otto Richard, who has fired twice today, the maximum amount of bullets per flight. We await to see whether he will be back in action tomorrow on Day 1b of the Winamax Poker Open Dublin Main Event.

Sander van Wesemael held {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and was flipping against the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} of his opponent, who was all in. The board ran out {4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Van Wesemael took a small knock to his stack.

Meanwhile, last year's runner-up Sonny Franco was counting out his chips after grabbing himself a full double-up with {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} against the {q-}{j-} of an opponent. The board read {9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Franco moved up to around 100,000 in chips.

Lastly, Sylvain Loosli was part of a three-way all in but was ahead with {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} against the {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} of the short stack. There was a king in the window, but the {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Clubs} gave Loosli a stranglehold on the pot. The {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} runout gave him the best hand, and he more than doubled.
