Day 1b of the Winamax Poker Open Bratislava €500 Main Event at the Banco Casino has come to close after 21 levels of play. Which mirrors the action from Day 1a.

The second heat was a more busier affair than yesterday, with 631 total entries confirmed when the late registration period closed. Those players added an extra €277,640 into the prize pool to take the combined total from Day 1a and Day 1b to €465,520, however that number is officially €588,720 due to pre-registered players for the last two starting flights.

From today’s field of players, just 106 bagged and tagged a stack for Day 2. Marian Flesar finished as the end of day chip leader and piloted over a stack of 950,000 to the next stage. Daniel Koloszar and Romain David round out the top three chip counts as they ended up with a stack of 915,000 and 849,000 respectively.

The most notable story of the day is that there were several straight flushes, which included a Royal from Winamax Team Pro Alejandro Romero. Roland Pardoux was also on the right side of a straight flush over straight flush encounter to give him an early boost in Day 1b. Kazuma Fujiyama then joined on the fun and rivered a straight flush of his own.

Pardoux (319,000) would also find a bag for Day 2 as did Romero (553,000). Other Winamax Team Pro Members who made it over the first hurdle also included Romain Lewis (460,000), Guillaume Diaz (103,000), Leo Margets (137,000) and Davidi Kitai (219,000). They’ll be joining fellow Team Pro Pierre Calamusa who qualified from Day 1a with a stack of 270,000. However stablemates Bruno Lopes, Loic Debregeas, Francois Pirault, Joao Vieira, Mustapha Kanit and Alexane Najchaus will have to return for Day 1c or 1d to have any hopes of progressing.

This time around, Gytis Juskevicius was the last player to walk away empty handed as his elimination guaranteed the rest of the field making the money and Day 2. Juskevicius moved all in with pocket tens and was called by Baptiste Scorsone who held ace-jack. The latter paired up on the turn to take the lead and held on the river to scoop the pot.

Dennis Wilke, Grzegorz Wyraz and 2019 WPO Dublin Main Event winner Philippe Guillou were some of the notable names among today’s entries, however neither play could go the distance in Day 1b.

Baptiste Scorsone opened to 20,000 from middle position before Gytis Juskevicius committed his last 100,000 chips from the big blind. Scorsone called and the room all raced over to watch the hand play out.

Gytis Juskevicius: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Baptiste Scorsone: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

It was a classic flip and tens remained ahead on the {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop. However, the {j-Diamonds} turn left the at risk player drawing to two outs. The {4-Spades} completed the board and there were loud cheers as Juskevicius' elimination ensured that everyone else made the money and Day 2.

Day 1b has now finished. Chip counts and recap to follow shortly.
