Caillou Bubbles After Losing Flip

Level 21 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Florian Caillou
Florian Caillou

Florian Caillou was all in for around 101,000 and at risk on the bubble versus Vincent De La Porte.

Florian Caillou: AK All in
Vincent De La Porte: 88

It was a fair fight, but Caillou was almost drawing dead after the Q86 flop gave De La Porte middle set.

The 7 confirmed Caillou's fate, and the 2 river completed the board.

Caillou is the unfortunate player to exit on the bubble in Day 1a, with 59 players progressing from the flight.

Zegour Busts Annequin

Level 15 : Blinds 1,500/3,500, 3,500 ante

Mathieu Annequin opened to 7,000 under the gun, and was faced with a three-bet to 23,000 from Selim Zegour on the button.

Action folded back to Annequin, who thought for a moment before four-bet jamming for 143,000. Zegour asked for a count, gave the spot a bit of thought, and made the call with the covering stack.

Mathieu Annequin: AQ All in
Selim Zegour: JJ

It was a fair fight, but not for long as Zegour flopped top set on the J73 flop.

The K turn gave Annequin some hope, but the 5 river was a brick to send Annequin to the rail.

Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen's stint in Day 1a doesn't appear to have lasted too long after he entered just before the close of late registration, as he was seen exiting the tournament area. No doubt he will be back for another go later in the week.

Joubert Annihilates Ancel

Level 11 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

With around 6,000 in the middle on a board of 6547, Bruno Ancel led out with a bet of 3,800 from the big blind, and was met with a raise to 13,800 from Valentin Joubert in the cutoff. After quite a bit of deliberation, Ancel called.

The 4 river paired the board, and also brought in potential flushes.

Ancel checked to his opponent, who took some time to think before firing out a bet of 50,000, covering Ancel's remaining stack of around 30,000.

Ancel put his hands to his head and sighed. After around two minutes he suddenly said "Allez" and flicked in a calling chip.

Joubert tabled Q8 for the eight-high straight, and that was good against Ancel's A7.

Early Fireworks as Noel Busts Machabert

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Around 11,000 was in the middle on a completed board of 876Q5, in a hand between Alexis Machabert on the button and Rudy Noel in the small blind.

There was 22,000 in front of Machabert, while Noel had the all-in triangle in front of him, having put the entirety of his remaining 46,000 stack into the middle.

Machabert went into the tank, and remained deep in thought for around three to four minutes.

He ultimately made the call, only to see that his 99 for the rivered one-card nine-high straight was beaten by Noel's 109 for the flopped ten-high straight, in a brutal early cooler.
