Level 21 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Steven Lamalle

There was barely a spare seat in the house at Casino Grand Cercle d'Aix-les-Bains today, as swarms of players arrived to take their shot at Day 1b of the 2025 Winamax Poker Open Aix-les-Bains.

A huge total of 760 entrants was whittled down to 125 players by the time play ended with 22 minutes left in Level 21, with Steven Lamalle rising to the top of the standings on 980,000. Lamalle is closely followed by Eric Delcourt (889,000), while Victor Guinand (866,000) completes the podium places.

Lamalle has no apparent recorded live tournament history, while Delcourt boasts cashes of just over $22,000.

Guinand's biggest recorded live score amongst his $25,000 career total is a $14,000 payday for a 12th place finish at the Winamax SISMIX event in Marrakech in May this year.

Day 1b Action

A total of 400 players were seated for the first hand in Day 1b, exceeding the total number of entrants in the entirety of Day 1a, and the chips flew in all directions early on.

Lamalle reported that he secured a double-up in his first hand, and steadily accumulated chips from there. He did breach the seven-figure mark towards the end of the day, but took a small hit before play ended.

Delcourt's stack primarily arose after his cowboys held versus Walid Kebir's queens in a huge pot, while Guinand's rise started when he flopped a straight and got three streets of value from Matthias Bertholon.

There were a number of Winimax ambassadors in the field today, and Davidi Kitai (386,000) and Leo Margets (99,000) both managed to progress to Day 2, Kitai finding an early double-up and building from there.

Fellow ambassadors Julien Sitbon, Romain Lewis and Pierre Calamusa were not so fortunate, Sitbon busting to Jerome Negro.

Florian Caillou had the misfortune of bubbling Day 1a with Big Slick, and he must be wondering what he has done to anger the poker gods, after he soft-bubbled Day 1b by running the same hand into the aces of Audran Morignant.

The fate of being the last player to exit empty-handed in Day 1b fell to Hugo Blaison, who got it in good versus Bruno Dos Santos Caseiro, but could not recover after falling behind on the flop.

The final opportunities for players to qualify for Day 2 are Days 1c and 1d, taking place at noon and 7:00 p.m. respectively on September 19, with Day 1d being a turbo flight.

Both flights are expected to be extremely busy, with the current prize pool of €544,896 only set to increase further.

Caseiro Busts Blaison on Bubble

Hugo Blaison and Bruno Dos Santos Caseiro
Hugo Blaison and Bruno Dos Santos Caseiro

Hugo Blaison jammed from the small blind for 50,000, and Bruno Dos Santos Caseiro made the call on the bubble in the big blind.

Hugo Blaison: A10 All in
Bruno Dos Santos Caseiro: KQ

Blaison was ahead, but much to the delight of the watching crowd, the queen was in the window on the Q77 flop.

The 6 turn gave Blaison outs to the one-card flush, and he smiled and started confidently rubbing his 10 card, as the crowd chanted for a brick.

The 6 river was not what he required, and Blaison is the unfortunate player to exit on the bubble in Day 1b.

Florian Caillou was all-in for 142,000 and at risk against Audran Morignant.

Florian Caillou: AK All in
Audran Morignant: AA

In a brutal cooler, Caillou had run Big Slick into rockets, and there was no escape on the 852A4 runout, Morignant improving to a set.

Caillou must feel like the unluckiest man in Aix-les-Bains tonight.

There was 100,000 in front of Arthur Tullou, and Benjamin Meyer was all-in for 335,000.

Benjamin Meyer: AK All in
Arthur Tullou: JJ

It was a huge flip, and Tullou remained ahead across the Q95 flop and 10 turn.

Hugo Delmaire-Sizes
Hugo Delmaire-Sizes

There was around 38,000 in the middle on a flop of J54, in a battle of the blinds between Hugo Delmaire-Sizes and Maeva Nerriere.

Delmaire-Sizes led out with a bet of 12,000, and was met with a jam to 97,000 from Nerriere.

Delmaire-Sizes took quite a bit of time to think it through, but ultimately made the call.

Maeva Nerriere: 98 All in
Hugo Delmaire-Sizes: J7

Delmaire-Sizes was ahead with top pair jacks, but Nerriere had the flush draw, and picked up further outs to the straight on the 10 turn.

However the 6 river was a brick, much to Delmaire-Sizes relief.

Guido Gets Le Floch

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Tristan Guido
Tristan Guido

A player opened to 8,000 from the cutoff, and received a call from Tristan Guido on the button, before Logan Le Floch three-bet jammed from the big blind for 52,000.

The opener got out of the way, but Guido made the call.

Logan Le Floch: 55 All in
Tristan Guido: 77

Le Floch required a two-outer, and was drawing to running quads after the A74 flop.

The 2 turn confirmed Le Floch was drawing dead, and the 5 river was a rubdown if ever there was one.

Demirdjian Demolishes Delabriere

Level 15 : Blinds 1,500/3,500, 3,500 ante

Romain Demirdjian opened to 7,000 from the hijack, before being faced with a three-bet jam to 64,000 from Florian Delabriere in the cutoff.

Demirdjian took some time to consider the position, before making the call.

Florian Delabriere: QJ All in
Romain Demirdjian: A10

Delabriere needed some help, but the AQ4 flop, while giving him second pair, gave Demirdjian top pair and the flush draw.

Delabriere was now up out of his chair, but the stand-up trick didn't work this time, as he bricked the 7 turn and 3 river.
