Dumont Busts on Bubble in Brutal Fashion
Dany Philippe raised from the hijack and Winamax streamer Adrien Dumont called in the cutoff. The flop came 10♦5♠2♠ and Philippe continued for 30,000, which Dumont called.
The turn came the 3♣ and Philippe bet 40,000. Dumont then pushed all in for 148,000, leaving Philippe in the tank rubbing his head with his hands in anguish.
As this was happening, the tournament director announced the official start of hand for hand, meaning there was just one more player to bust. Still, Philippe made the call with the covering stack.
Several other hands were playing out on different tables, adding to the tension as media gathered around to witness the moment. Philippe and Dumont gave each other a respectful fist-pump before the TD came over to call out the hand. Players revealed their cards.
Philippe had J♠J♥, an overpair to the board. Dumont, however, flipped over 10♥10♣ for a flopped set of tens and was in great shape heading to the river. Dumont just needed to fade a jack to double his stack and avoid elimination on the bubble.
The river came the J♣ and onlookers let out an "ohhhhh" as it became clear what had happened. Philippe had rivered a higher set.
Dumont was eliminated on the stone bubble. Cheers rang out as the remaining 112 players made the money.
